That's my question too. I'd like to say WR, but have no clue

I would say WR and I would say he is a Plan B guy...especially with an offer out to Darius Jennings, who I would say is the better prospect, although the two of them have nearly identical offer sheets at this point.

PSU recruiting spotlight: Brandon Phelps has decisions to make

Pressure isn't exactly the word to describe the kind of college choice Brandon Phelps has to make.

But when your father played football at the University of Virginia and your mom graduated from there and now the Cavaliers, with their shiny new coaching staff, wants you to play for them, too, then . . .

That's something special to consider.

"When I got the offer from them it was pretty cool. It has a lot of sentimental value to it," said Phelps, a junior at Damascus High in Maryland. "It would be cool to keep the legacy going."

And yet that doesn't mean the star receiver/defensive back is locked onto that path.

There's simply too many other intriguing options to consider -- including one of his favorites, Penn State.

He's also being pursued by the likes of Alabama, LSU, Ohio State and Notre Dame.

Recruiting weekly: Chase is on for Brandon Phelps

Rising Damascus senior Brandon Phelps holds offers from 21 NCAA Division I football programs.

By the beginning of the 2010 season, Damascus' Brandon Phelps will have his postgraduate football destination decided.

Then he can focus on leaving in style.

The rising senior has been all the rage in the offseason, becoming one of the most coveted prospects in the state. To date, Phelps has a grand total of 21 Division I scholarship offers.

The quality has equaled the quantity. Among the suitors are Louisiana State University, Ohio State, Penn State, UCLA, and most recently, Alabama.

Oh, and Maryland. His father, Gary, is a Virginia alumnus (1984), where he played defensive back.

"I've visited Penn State, Maryland, Duke and Virginia already, but I honestly have no idea at this point," Phelps said. "It's just a lot of schools to think about."

They have come in droves for a reason. Phelps is set to become a four-year starter, a rarity at Damascus. He went both ways in his very first game as a freshman, returning an interception 65 yards for a touchdown against Kennedy back in 2007.
