He most definitely was. Watch his Army Combine videos over on Rivals. Kid is just sick at rushing the Quarterback.

Recruiting: Despite ties to Miami, Alonso's Anthony Chickillo keeps an open mind
By Keith Niebuhr, Times Staff Writer
In Print: Sunday, February 14, 2010

It's pretty common to see teenagers wearing college gear, but don't expect to find anything like that on Anthony Chickillo's body in the near future.

"I haven't worn any in a long time," he said.

The reason?

"When I would wear something, everyone would start talking," Chickillo said.
...
Chickillo's father, Tony, and grandfather, the late Nick Chickillo, played in the NFL. Tony Chickillo, also a defensive lineman, was taken by the Buccaneers in the fifth round of the 1983 NFL draft. Before they were pros, both played for the Miami Hurricanes.

"My father has done a great job preparing me to play at the highest level," Chickillo said.
...
"I've liked them since I was little," Chickillo said. But ?

"As I got older, I became a recruit, so I'm more open," Chickillo said. "I'm open to every school. My dad told me that he went through the recruiting process, and he's going to let me go through mine and not put any pressure on me. Whatever school I go to, he'll support it."

Lists Notre Dame as one of his favorites & says he's always been a fan of the program... With their switch to a 34 defense, he could fit in at OLB or DE & he's fine with either... Wants to visit as many schools as he can & get down to a top 5 before the season... Plans to take all 5 OVs & enroll early...

Alonso's Chickillo gets friendly advice Bucs' McCoy

Gerald McCoy, the Bucs' first-round pick this year, told Alonso defensive lineman Anthony Chickillo to enjoy high school and not be in a hurry to get to college.

TAMPA - Anthony Chickillo and Gerald McCoy stood side-by-side.

The Alonso defensive end and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' recent first-round draft pick (third overall) sized each other up before McCoy began peppering Chickillo with questions.

"How many offers you got?" McCoy asked.

When the Alonso incoming senior answered "43," McCoy was quick with his response.

"Quit counting," McCoy said.

And that began the conversation between the two defensive linemen. When Chickillo and McCoy recently met at One Buc Place, Chickillo had a lot of questions for the former Oklahoma All-American, and McCoy wasn't afraid to provide some advice.

"He gave me a lot to think about," Chickillo said. "He gave me some really good advice for college."

Chickillo has a lot to do before college, including picking one. From that list of 43 Division I scholarship offers, Chickillo has his favorites. They are Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Nebraska, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA, Southern Cal and Virginia Tech.

And from that list of favorites, Chickillo hopes to have his finalists at the end of the summer. He wants to make a decision so he can focus on his senior year.

Alonso's Chickillo gets Under Armour invite

Alonso defensive end Anthony Chickillo became the latest Hillsborough County football player to receive an invitation to a distinguished national event.

Chickillo was invited to participate in the annual Under Armour All-American Game in January at Tropicana Field. One of the top defensive players in the state, he likely will receive an invitation to the U.S. Army All-American Game and will have to choose between the two.

In addition to the invitation, Chickillo recently picked two more offers from Auburn and Ole Miss. He has listed his favorite as Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Nebraska, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA, Southern Cal and Virginia Tech, but also said he liked the visits he had with the latest programs to offer.
