From the LSU site...despite acadmic concerns, Dontae is taking summer classes and wants to avoid having to go the JUCO route...has offers from Arkansas, Cal, Houston, Purdue, Utah, SMU and UTEP and is hoping to pick up an LSU offer when he camps there next week.

Despite the fact he was the talk of the USC camp, I am still not sold on this being an "official" offer at this point...

Billy Tucker: Six running backs were good enough to be considered for the No. 1 spot - ESPN

Don't sleep on these guys

Dontae Williams
(Houston/Aldine)
College: Undecided

Injuries limited Williams' production as a junior, but as with James, we saw enough ability in a handful of games to rank him as an upper-tier back. A well-balanced inside and outside runner, this explosive back could move up the rankings with a healthy and productive senior season.

Scouts Inc: There is plenty of talent that just missed the cut in the first version of the 2010 ESPNU 150 - ESPN

Williams is a running back that shows flashes of upper-tier ability, and could challenge for a spot on the ESPNU 150 with a consistent and productive senior season. A injury plagued junior year limited his carries, but his good blend of in-line burst and strength is impressive.

Four-star rusher Dontae Williams gives the Ducks a soft commitment

No. 11-rated running back Dontae Williams (Houston/Aldine) became an Oregon soft commitment on Tuesday, ESPN affiliate Web site DuckTerritory.com reports.

"Right now I am a soft verbal commit to Oregon. I will visit Oregon officially when they play aginst USC on Halloween weekend. After that visit I will hopefully make my soft verbal into a fully committed status," he said.

"I will try and visit Minnesota, and maybe another school or two. But I expect that after my official to Oregon, I will be a duck fully committed. I will travel up there with my mentor Charles. He is kind of like a youth pastor to me and other students. He has been a very positive influence helping me with this process."

"Yeah I am a soft verbal, silent commit, whatever you want to call it. Really, right now Oregon is the school for me. I really just have put my recruitment on hold until I visit there. After that I will probably either be a Duck or look around if I need to. I believe I will do a conference within a week of that visit. Until then, that is my plan for now."

Other programs such as California, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Purdue, Utah and Houston were also after the 5-foot-11, 198-pound prospect.

Williams rushed for 595 yards (6.4 average) and six touchdowns last fall. He missed time due to an ankle injury.
