Green Might Be At USC This Weekend

By Phil Kornblut
RB Mustafa Green (6-1 195) of Irmo will rank near the top of the prospects list in South Carolina this season. Green rushed for 1300 yards and 17 touchdowns last season despite missing five games with a shoulder injury. As a sophomore he rushed for 2000 yards and 10 touchdowns. "I have good vision," Green said. "I am able to make a person miss. And I like to run thru a person." Green said he has offers from USC, Clemson, Georgia, Florida, Notre Dame, Oregon, West Virginia and North Carolina. He's also getting interest from Ohio State. He's not been to any junior days but said he might go to USC this Saturday. He said the Gamecocks and Clemson are showing him a lot of interest. He's been to five games at Clemson and three at USC. He does not have an early favorites list.

ESPNU 150 Watch List running back Mustafa Greene (Columbia, S.C./Irmo) is wide open in terms of where he wants to go to school. At this point, he wants to get out of state. Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame and Florida all are schools that he mentioned. There are two programs, however, to watch closely here. One is the Gators if they want him. The other is Rutgers. Greene has ties to the New York area, and if the Scarlet Knights get involved, they could become major players.

Eight players who stood out in Charlotte - Insider - ESPN

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- On the same weekend that the NFL hosted its annual combine, hundreds of hopeful college prospects came to the Charlotte Nike combine to test their ability. While the turf field in Crickit Arena was a little rough, causing times to be slower than expected, the arena was packed with prospects and here are a few (in alphabetical order) who stood out.
Mustafa Greene, RB, Junior, Columbia, S.C./Irmo
What Stood Out: One of the bigger names in attendance, the rising senior claims several offers already from Georgia, South Carolina, Clemson and Tennessee, among others. He rushed for over 1,700 yards as a junior and feels his vision as a back is one of the strong points of his game. At 5-foot-11 and 188 pounds he has a solid frame, though he was a fairly unassuming prospect in street clothes. While he did not come across as a physical monster, he did post decent numbers. On an unforgiving artificial turf service he posted a 4.77 40 and a 4.41 shuttle, both solid numbers, but by Greene's own admission he wants to improve his speed and agility. Greene is looking for a school where he can get early playing time and good academics. He plans to attend a junior day at Florida next week.

Film

My Take: Gets downhill fast and shows a good lateral explosion. Deceptive speed and above average quickness with some clips showing tough hardnosed running and others showing a little bit of out of the frame off balance. Makes sharp second level cuts without killing speed. More impressive than I expected.
