GH: So, have you been offered by Minnesota?
BA: Ummmm?you?re going to have to talk to the coaching staff about that.

GH: Have they just told you you?re someone they want to have on the team?
BA: Once again, you?ll have to talk to the coaching staff about that one; I?m not sure what I can say about that, because I?m younger.

GH: What positions do you play?
BA: I play D-Line.

GH: Are you interested in Minnesota?
BA: I am. I?m from Minnesota, I like it here.

GH: What do you like about it?

Allen to visit Stanford this summer
May 20, 2009

by Bill Kurelic

Defensive lineman Beau Allen (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) is considering a half dozen scholarship offers. The 6-foot-3, 295-pounder has been a varsity starter since his freshman season when he played nose guard.Allen played both nose guard and defensive end during his sophomore season. He played defensive tackle and fullback during his junior season and made 59 tackles, including three sacks. Allen had 11 tackles for loss and forced three fumbles.
He has scholarship offers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Stanford, Nebraska and Vanderbilt.
"I think a few other schools are close to offering, like maybe UCLA, Northwestern and Michigan State," Allen said. "I'm looking at all the schools that have offered."
Allen has already visited Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Nebraska.
"I want to head out to Stanford this summer," he said. "I want to see and evaluate all the schools that have offered. I'll narrow things down from there."
Allen has no plans to rush into a college selection. He won't take the recruiting process to signing day, but he wants to take his time and thoroughly investigate his options.
"I think I'll pull the trigger after my senior (football) season," Allen said. "I'm thinking I'll decide in late November or December. I'll definitely take official visits. I plan to take all five visits."

Allen to the Irish?

Things have also gone very well lately for Charlie Weis and the Fighting Irish. It began one week ago as quarterback Andrew Hendrix (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) and defensive end Blake Lueders (Zionsville, Ind.) committed to Notre Dame. Hendrix and Lueders are two of the top prospects in the Midwest.

Weis followed up those two commitments by convincing ESPNU 150 Watch List safety Chris Badger (Provo, Utah/Timpview) to change his commitment from Stanford to Notre Dame. He will be joined in the secondary by cornerback Lo Wood (Apopka, Fla.) who also committed to the Irish.

Defensive lineman Beau Allen (Minnetonka, Minn.) attended Notre Dame's camp on Tuesday and received a scholarship offer from the Fighting Irish on Wednesday. Allen's offer list now includes Notre Dame, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Stanford, Colorado, UCLA, Nebraska and Vanderbilt.

"I'm pretty excited about it," Allen told Irish Sports Daily's Steve Wiltfong when asked about the Notre Dame offer. "I'd say to be honest, they'll be in my top five."
