'10 IL OL Greg McKee (UConn Verbal)

Yea, it would be nice to see Mckee offered by Ohio State and show that he belongs there, not only would he change their perspectives of not recruiting late blooming athletes but aksi another dominant lineman to the buckeyes. However you are right the talent level probably isnt the best of the best, but they have played some schools that are ranked high in the state. The only thing that could back that would be how he destroyed everyone at the NIU camp but not much talented recruits are going to Northern Illinois Camp it should be interesting to see how OSU plays on this

While he manhandles everyone who goes up against him in the highlight reel, I'm not sure how much weight that carries when you factor in the probable talent level of the opposition.

I think whether we offer or not will tell us all we need to know about Greg, not his bench press. Is it low? Yes. But a) who knows if that report is accurate, and b) who knows how much time he has put in in the weight room. Plus, I doubt he will have much trouble adding to his max if/once he gets to work with the staff.

I remember Corey Brown (the DB) had a reported 40 time of 4.75 last year. Certainly seemed slow for an elite DB prospect. Was it accurate? I have no idea, but that certainly didn't stop me from loving that we got him.

I am pretty sure Mike Adams bench wasn't even that as a senior in high school.

Alot of guys come in probablly with not a high bench press mark. They probably have something more impressive that overweighed benching in the coaches eye. but like stkoran who knows if that is accurate. And i know King it self turns out some good lineman.

True James and Henderson are both good. But i was looking at some new about King College Prep. Jeffrey Allen who was in the same situation, had alot of people wondering should he offered to play for University of Illinois and become a fighting illini. It was alot of higher recruited guys above him. Illinois took a chance on him and now he started for them as a True Freshman at the left tackle position. Same thing with Miles Strother with Michigan State, both are from this King College Prep school. Im just taking a look at these guys from King and wondering something going on there must be right.

Late bloomer? Not a very impressive list of offers. Is this year another case of where offering a select few and missing out on a lot of the top targets is going to back fire on the staff. It seems like it's happened quite a bit the last few years and we end up settling for a few plan B guys to fill the class.

I don't question Tressel's recruiting much, but why not give out a few more earlier in the process to the top talent around the country and if the class starts filling too quickly, back off on a few. I know the staff prefer to go after a small number so they can use that as a recruiting tool, telling kids they are only recruiting 2 guys @ their position for example.

I agree he is a late bloomer from what I have seen. And alot of guys that you call plan B guy has really turn out to be productive for :osu:

I agree offering these plan B guys is becoming a real problem. I mean, how are we supposed to win the Big Ten every year, beat Michigan and play in a BCS Bowl just about every year if we don't sign every big name we go after? I think the coaching staff has some real explaining to do.

What? We've won the Big Ten 5 years in a row? We haven't lost to Michigan in 2,221 days? We've played in a BCS game almost every year since Tressel has been here? Oh. Never mind.

Offering these plan B guys like Greg has really worked for tressel and he sees that. Not saying dont go after those top recruited guys but he has been very successful with the recruiting he has done thus far. Its those Plan B guys that seem to work harder to show they have something to prove, whether than those guys who are already top ranked see it as I am already the best(some of them)

He looks pretty dominating in the highlight film, but I really question the talent level in the league he's playing in. Three things make me ask this:
1) He's playing in Chicago, but the stands are either completely empty or close to it in every shot.
2) In some of the views you can see the team on the sideline, and they look to total maybe 25 tops (excluding those on the field obviously).
3) The play where the running back breaks free (a minute or so in maybe) and has like 15 yards of separation by the time anyone starts pursuing him... how does that happen?

While he manhandles everyone who goes up against him in the highlight reel, I'm not sure how much weight that carries when you factor in the probable talent level of the opposition.

I agree that the talent level in chicago isnt the best. But look who king have turn out. Like osufootball284 said that Jeff Allen came out of there 2 years ago and started as a truse freshman for the Fightling Illini, at the hardest position on the line. And Miles Strother as well. So either the talent level they play is good or the talent of these big lineman is far more superior then whats expected of them.

From what i seen at that camp he was at, and the highlight tape, i do not think he is better then james to me and would take james over mckee but mckee and henderson are about the same

I was just saying that henderson and mckee both have different attributes that i feel will benefit the :osu: offensive line equally just my thought

Well that's your opinion, but the second of your quotes illustrates your opinion much more clearly.
