Five-star guard Golden makes decision

By Jerry Meyer and Justin Young, Rivals.com

Trae Golden, one of the top 10 players in the class of 2010, is off the board. The five-star guard from McEachern (Ga.) High School made a commitment to Ohio State this week.
He committed to the Big Ten powerhouse shortly after making an unofficial visit to the school. Golden said he loved his time in Columbus and saw no reason to wait on his decision.
"I've always had them on top of my list because my father went there. It felt like home when I went up there," Golden said. "It felt like the right thing to do."

I'm really excited about what I hear from Trae on that article. He seems like a guy with insight beyond his years and a guy that loves basketball. They should, infact, have a chance to win the title in his freshman year. the only question is who else is Matta going to recruit? lol This guy(matta) is a monster.

Thats great and all but the point I have been bringing up for the past few months is the grad rate and how we may or may not lost a scholarship if we continue to not graduate kids...1/2 vs 1/1 will eventually add up
I could be wrong but I think it only hurts our APR if they don't graduate while they're still enrolled. I don't think just leaving early hurts. If they finish their courses for that year, they're fine.

And the great thing is, these kids aren't just great basketball players. Thad Matta has ridiculous recruiting skills, and he gets the players he wants, period. If he wants a team full of players that can play some serious ball and are motivated academically, even if there are only a few in the country, he will get them. And he is getting them. A lot of them.

The only unfortunate thing is that, yes, most of these players will be one and done, or two and done. But that's a small price to pay for the success that Matta is bringing to this program. Our basketball program will soon be as good as our football program, and it isn't unreasonable for us to have the kind of success that Florida had last year... Consistently. Not necessarily 2 national championships in the same year... But Rose bowl victories and final four appearances year in and year out.

Thad Matta is an amazing, amazing man. Wow. His '10 class is already better than most people's '08 classes... I'm completely astounded.

True. Once Matta's is entrenchment in the HC job hits the APR there will be no worries. It will soon be a moot point. The problems in the program years ago is hurting OSU right now. As long as the kids finish is good standing it does not hurt APR.
