Took an OV to Florida and came away impressed... Spent most of his time with Josh Shaw and Trey Burton... Meyer told him he has a home there whenever he wants... Is planning an OV for Southern Cal on 1/29 and is still talking to Tennessee as well.

Recruiting weekend in review
By Edward Aschoff
Published: Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 6:01 a.m.

Florida coaches and commitments used their time wisely over the weekend.

With this being the final major recruiting weekend in Gainesville, the goal was to educate the pledges and sway the uncommitted.

Getting the most attention was Tampa Catholic offensive lineman Chaz Green. Originally considered a Florida lean, Green turned most of his attention to Tennessee this past fall. However, with coach Lane Kiffin departing for Southern Cal, Green's interest in Tennessee took a considerable hit.

With a prime opportunity to make up ground on Green, Florida coach Urban Meyer put one of his best recruiters on Green.

"I try to recruit anybody that's good," Miami Booker T. Washington defensive end commit Lynden Trail said.

"I just let (Green) know how great of a school Florida is. Academically, we're sound. You don't really have to talk about the (Gator) Nation. And our performance on the field is always one of the best in the nation."
Trail even tried recruiting Green's parents.

"I told them that if I were going to leave my child in somebody's hands for the next four years, leaving him in Urban Meyer's hands is like (leaving him with) not a regular coach," he said. "He's more than a coach. He's a family guy, great husband. He's got a great family, he's family-oriented, which makes everybody comfortable."

Weekend was hard to predict

Tampa Catholic offensive lineman Chaz Green has Florida on his (very) short list. He was a heavy Florida lean, then a heavy Tennessee lean and now he?s up in the air. Tennessee could be out of it now that Lane Kiffin is at USC. But USC could now replace Tennessee. He?s visiting Southern Cal this weekend, and his decision should come down to Florida and USC.

Whispers: Who has the edge for top prospects?

OL Chaz Green - Florida has the edge here, followed by USC and Ohio State. Tennessee, a lock for his services at one time, seems to be gone from the picture. The USC visit this weekend will be a big one because Green was all set to play for Tennessee when Kiffin was the coach of the Vols. But will Green go that far away? Florida is the safest bet right now.
