'10 FL ATH Jarred Haggins (Florida State Verbal)

Scout $

Article about the recruits at FSU's Semile Showtime event this weekend. Jarred states this visit helped the 'Noles, but will not decide until after he visits Ohio State.

Hmm, hadn't heard too much regarding Jarred's commitement lately, figured he was already gone. But, it sounds like he either will, or at least wants, to visit eventually before he commits. Good news.

LoL at the edit. Haggins would be a great get. He plays quarterback for Lakeland High School, but is much more suited for a defensive back role. Lakeland doesn't really have anyone else. He still took them to State, though.

Some FSU fans are speculating that they are running out of room for DB's and have higher guys on their board, i.e. Joyner, so we may be able to steal one here.

Several other programs including Ohio State, Michigan, Louisville, South Carolina, South Florida, Tennessee and Louisville also offered.

In 2008, Haggins threw for 3,000 yards and 15 touchdowns.

FSU football recruit Haggins charts his own course
By Ira Schoffel

January 20, 2010

Jarred "Scooter" Haggins wants you to know a few things.

Number one, he is not coming to Florida State because his uncle Odell is a former Seminoles star and a longtime member of the FSU coaching staff.
Number two, he could play quarterback at the college level if he wanted.
And number three, he earned his scholarship the old-fashioned way, with talent and hard work. He was given nothing, and he likes it that way.
"They told me I'm going to have an opportunity to play, and that's all I ask for," said Haggins, who originally leaned to Ohio State but plans to sign with the Seminoles on Feb. 3. "I didn't get there just because my uncle is up there. I got there because of my skills and talents."
