Deep Run (Glen Allen, VA) defensive end/tight end recruit Jake Snyder has closed out the Evaluation Period in style, adding scholarship offers from Louisville, Ohio State and Penn State to bring his total offer number to nine. Within the next few weeks, the 6-4, 235-pound rising senior may take the next step - whatever that may be - in his decision making process.

This one seems real strange, as in almost hard to believe. Scout, has Jake as a one star recruit, and no position rating. Rivals has Jake with no ratings at all, and yet he has an Buckeye offer without camping. This is a story I'm already looking forward to reading.

Just means he hasn't been evaluated yet. No biggie.

Cavs land touted gridder

Just as Jake Snyder's recruiting was heating up, it was over.

Snyder, a 6-foot-4, 245-pound defensive end and tight end from Richmond's Deep Run High School, said Tuesday that he has committed to Virginia.

He became the 11th player to commit to the Cavaliers for 2009, nine from Virginia. None of the others had a more impressive list of offers.

Ohio State, Penn State and Virginia Tech all made offers to Snyder, whose older brother, Matt, was a walk-on wide receiver for the Cavaliers this past season.

OSU scholarship offer helped push Snyder to UVA

Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Snyder, a 6-4, 240-pound junior from Deep Run High in western Henrico County, had long liked U.Va., where his brother Matt is a walk-on wide receiver. When the Buckeyes' offer didn't sway him, Jake recalled, he asked himself, "What am I waiting for? If that's not changing my mind, I don't know what would."
So thanks guys

Jake's a great guy, and yeah it was pretty much UVA from the beginning for him, considering his brother plays there, its a great school, and its an hour away.
I played with him for 2 years, and he's a beast. Hard worker, good teammate, fundamentally sound, and probably would have gotten into UVA just off of grades. He's going to be a monster at Virginia.
