Taneareus moved to Ohio last year and rushed for 854 yards while averaging 10.8 yards per carry and scored 8 rushing TDs, 6 through the air, and 2 on kickoff returns. He will attend tOSU's Junior Day.

Tough RB and was the star on a good Elks team. However, Centerville runs the ball 90% of the time and he did receive a plethora of carries. He is likely a D1 player but not OSU caliber imo.

It was difficult for any player to get a lot of carries for Centerville last year. Collins was one tailback, William Johnson (UC verbal, although that may not be the case now that Dantonio left) was the other tailback, FB James Cravens (who may get D-IA looks next year) is a good player, and their QB is also a good runner. I wonder what his stats, and reputation, would be if he was at a school where he'd be the #1 guy.

If Collins continues to progress as a corner, I can see him as a Buckeye. At running back, unfortunately, he's too raw. He relies solely on his speed since he had never really been coached. But at defensive back, he looked very good. I was on the sidelines holding a camera for ONN at the Wayne game this year, and I saw Taneareus shut down his side of the field. He laid out a punishing hit on a screen pass as well in his first game on defense all year.

Local High School Football Star Arrested

2News has learned a local high school football star has been locked up, accused in connection with a carjacking.

The suspect is 18-year-old Taneareus Collins, a junior at Centerville High School.

Investigators said they arrested Collins without incident after they stopped him while he was behind the wheel of a stolen Dodge Durango.

Police said that vehicle was taken at gunpoint in Springdale on March 1.

Police also told 2News they found a gun in the Durango, a gun Collins said is fake.

Set to graduate in 2008, Collins is a standout football player at Centerville. He was featured in our Operation Football Play of the Night on October 27.

Collins is a prized recruit being courted by no less than by Ohio State, Tennessee, and Cincinnati.

Tonight he is far from the football field, in police custody, his future now very uncertain.

Police said Collins denies he stealing the car.

Just going to lock this thread as there is seemingly nothing left to discuss...we'll update as the legal proceedings occur.

A high school football player being recruited by several major colleges is in the Hamilton County Justice Center, held on $150,000 bond for his alleged role in a Springdale carjacking March 1.
Taneareus Maquale Collins, 18, of Centerville, Ohio, is charged with complicity to aggravated armed robbery.
Police in Dayton, Ohio, arrested Collins on March 5 as he was driving a silver 1999 Dodge Durango taken in the robbery. He is charged with receiving stolen property in Dayton.
Police said Collins "admitted to having knowledge that the reason for the trip to Springdale was to commit a theft offense involving a vehicle."

Assistant Prosecutor Betsy Sundermann told the judge that Collins gave written and taped statements about being the lookout for the carjacking.

Collins, his attorney said Thursday, was trying to move the car from in front of his house when he was arrested driving it.
