Ohio's Zordich shadowed his NFL father for years Thursday, June 12, 2008BY BOB FLOUNDERSOf The Patriot-News
The Ohio linebacker from Cardinal Mooney High in Youngstown has different childhood memories than most.
Michael Zordich remembers his first toy, a gift from his dad, an NFL strong safety named Michael Zordich who was a Penn State stalwart in the mid-1980s.
It was a Philadelphia Eagles game ball.
The younger Zordich picked PSU over Ohio State despite a close relationship with fellow Youngstown-ian Jim Tressel, the Buckeyes coach.
Zordich said he has no regrets. Neither do his parents.
"Obviously, they were thrilled with the decision," Zordich laughed.
Zordich's father, mom Cindy, younger brother Alex and grandfather Milan Zordich will be in Hershey Saturday for the game.
"I think Penn State is getting a great one," Ohio head coach Jim Ryan said of Zordich.
"Physically, he is just put-together, he has fine size for an inside linebacker and he has that football savvy. You can tell he's been well-tutored by his father."
