Lisbon Ohio Beaver Local defensive end/tackle Derek Wolfe showed off his increased size and speed at the Cleveland Elite Camp this past week. After his sophomore year, Wolfe weighted in at 250 lbs with a 4.9 second 40 time. Now, heading into his senior season at Beaver Local, he is up to 270 lbs and has improved his 40 time to 4.8 seconds while maintaining his agility and footwork. Wolfe told us about his ability on the field. ?I think that my best attributes are my strength, agility, size, speed and my will to win.?
Last year was an OK year at defensive end for Wolfe as he had a total of 30 tackles as a junior. ?If I?m not mistaken in 10 games I had around 30 tackles, 5 1/2 sacks, 9 tackles for loss and I swatted 5 balls.? He reported to us recently. He has remained under the radar on the recruiting scene until this past week when college coaches were impressed with his first step off the line in one-on-one drills. ?I felt like my performance at the Cleveland Elite Camp was good. I felt like I moved well. I felt confident about my performance.? He explained to us about this past week.
Iowa, Indiana, Georgia Tech and Syracuse have been recruiting Wolfe the most and sending correspondence often. ?Schools that are showing interest include Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Purdue and Ohio State.? Is his most recent list of football programs. ?I have a full athletic scholarship offer from Bowling Green.? He told us. In addition to Bowling Green, a number of MAC schools are getting ready to offer. And Wolfe could verbally commit very soon, if the right school does give him a scholarship offer. ?I think that as soon as I get an offer that I really like, I?m going to take it. I hope to decide before season.? He said.
