The lone campus in Brandon Green's top six (Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Northwestern, Michigan State and West Virginia) that he hasn't visited yet is West Virginia. "They've impressed me a lot," he said. "They are running and passing the ball really well. They have a great running back and quarterback and are very balanced. They're a top team right now and I think they'll be good for a while..."

Amid failure, Gophers find success with recruit

Less than 24 hours after the Gophers football team suffered perhaps one of its worst losses in program history, cheers filled the football complex Sunday afternoon.

"Ask me whether or not my feelings are buoyed," coach Tim Brewster said.

Well?

"Absolutely," he said.

Despite a demoralizing 27-21 loss to North Dakota State on Saturday, Brewster and his staff received a verbal commitment from wide receiver Brandon Green, a four-star recruit from Chicago Robeson who made his official visit this weekend. The Gophers also got a commitment from Green's teammate Johnny Johnson, who is projected as an athlete.
