Yes, Filer has been to Ohio State, earlier this month (see post #34).

The 2008 recruits are not allowed to take official visits until September 1st, so Filer has not taken any official visits yet.

FYI, word from a pair of ND boards is Filer is officially Irish tomorrow. No press conference or anything, but a few phone calls to be made and that'll be the end of it for Steve.

I should mention that this is coming from IrishEnvy, and GoldHelmet, none of the premium boards.

Solid info as usual IC...I don't think anyone saw this ending any differently. Great get for ND...this kid has seemed less than enamored with the whole process from the get go and I think it is huge for ND to get him locked up early.

Notre Dame's football recruiting class, already ranked No. 1 in the nation, added its eighth top- 100 prospect Monday when linebacker Steve Filer of Mount Carmel made an oral commitment to Irish coach Charlie Weis.

Filer did an interview for a local paper ... one interesting comment about OSU:

Ha! No, that's not it. Jim Tressel's a real good guy. It's just that some of the other coaches won't take no for an answer.
