Rivals is listing interest in Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami (FL), Ole Miss, Ohio State and South Carolina (his Scout profile looks to be inaccurate...listing offers from several schools that have apparently not offered as of yet).

Scout Bio said:
A talented defensive line prospect, Jones had 60 tackles and 10 sacks as a sophomore at Miami Springs High. He transferred to Northwestern as a junior but missed the entire season due to a dislocated knee.

Rivals $

6/13

From the LSU site...lists a top 3 of LSU, Miami (FL) and Ohio State (all offered except OSU). Won't decide until signing day.

I don't know this kids talent level or how interested OSU actually is...it's just nice to see more potential options open up at DT. That is if Jones is truely an option.

Although he's rated only as a 3-star by both Rivals and Scout, if Cryami and LSU have offered a kid that missed his entire junior year to a knee injury, he's got to be pretty talented. As for how genuine his interest is in Ohio State, I don't see why he'd mention us if there wasn't some real interest.

I think he'll be difficult to get from Miami, because I know he's one of the "Northwestern 7", 7 players from Northwestern that are all elite talents that Miami is targeting hard. Maybe Ben wants to carve his own identity and is open to coming up north. From what I've read, he's an absolute beast that could play any position along the dline. A lot of Miami fans think he'll blow up when his season starts.

this is one of those situations where people will be wondering why osu is after this kid (if they are really serious). He'll then blow up as a senior and everyone will know why.

when osu offered goeble before any other major program did months ago, some people wondered why him.

He has said he wants to leave Florida and go out of state, so Miami looks to be on the outside looking in. LSU would then be the logical choice as a slight leader, but an OSU offer could change that. I like what Ben brings to the table as far as measureables go, I have not seen any film, but I can imagine it is becuase he missed last season.

EDIT: Scout does list him with an offer. I know, it's Scout, but somehting to look into.

No offer from us, yet...

This is a prospect that really intrigued me back when he was first mentioned, so I looked up as much stuff as I could on him.

Basically, of all the Miami Northwestern players, Jones is the least likely to go to Miami. Most Miami fans don't even project him as a possibility in their class.

However, I think LSU could be tough to beat. They seem to bring in at least five highly touted d-linemen a year, and I've read that Jones likes LSU a lot.

I do think he'd be a great pick up though. Very much in the David Patterson mold, with better measurables.

Maybe we can use LSU's great run of DT recruiting to our advantage. I don't follow them too closely, but I would have to imagine their depth chart is absolutely loaded after the last couple years of recruiting.

I don't know much about this guy, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him, or a prospect similar to him, end up in this class. D line is still a need and the depth chart is pretty inviting, which might make us attractive to an out of state guy who is just looking for the best opportunity to play.
