'07 OH WR Kyle Jefferson (Wisconsin signee)

don't want to get too far off topic re: Kyle, but one more comment in this vein....

in '06 Glenville sent
8 players to Big Ten
15 players to Div 1. schools
21 total players signing Letters on Intent to play college football on Saturdays.

even more amazing than that is that this team didn't win state?

Intelligencer

3/26

From the Steubenville Early Bird:

On the boys’ side, the two big stories for the Tarblodders was the individual performance of Kyle Jefferson and the Clevelanders’ ability to capture all four relay races.

Jefferson was nothing short of outstanding with three victories, including some very impressive early season marks. He clocked 22.47 in the 200, smoked the 400-meter dash field with a 49.90 and went 20-4 to win the long jump.

[Walken] Wowee wow wow. [/Walken]

Kyle's stock will skyrocket back up if he keeps running these times at 6-5, 195 (though that weight is exaggerated a bit). He's finally top dog at Glenville and won't have to sit behind a bunch of D-1 players.

The raw measurables remind me of Devon Lyons, but it seems Kyle is more in tune with his body if he's throwing up these track times. How does he look in the defensive backfield, for anyone that's seen him?

Right now, Kyle is a track guy who goes to a football school. He'll get some looks because of the Glenville name on his jersey, but he needs to have a huge camp/combine tour and solid senior season before he gets major interest.

And he still needs to add a lot of strength and weight. I think at the last combine he attended, he was listed at around 165 lbs or so.

I wouldn't mind offering him as a project player. However, he does need to have a big senior season. His potential is as high as anybody, and if he gets into a college strength and conditioning program with college coaches, he could easily skyrocket in a few years after redshirting.

He may be a project but he is fast as heck. Some added weight would go a long way in making him a tremendous WR.

There are some questions about Kyle that do not translate well in the game of football. He needs to change those perceptions this year to receive the major attention...however, I would not be surprised to see some major offers, including tOSU, based solely on potential.

Afraid to catch it in the middle of the field?<!-- / message -->

I think that's his main criticism along with his catching ability. He might not run the best routes either, but I'm not so sure about that one.

However, like someone said, adding 20 pounds would go a long way in his ability to catch a pass over the middle.
