Confirmation of Akron offer. Took an unofficial to OSU to watch a practice. Will camp at Toledo, Akron, Michigan State and Ohio State.

I think if he gets an offer it is going to be with the thought of him playing on the inside at DT.

Coule be a year when they would like to take 3 since we lose 3.

I am interested to see some film of his.

My take. He is a lot in the mold as Charlie Hatcher, where they are both going to need to gain weight and move inside. I think Hughes has very good explosiveness off the ball, you can tell at times he just uses pure stength over some of the smaller guys he is either rushing against or blocking. At times he is too high. I am not sure of the competition but they don't look like they are on John's level.

He plays in DI in Central Ohio, so that should tell you a little about the competition. There are some that think he could be one of the top TEs in the state this year, along with Hubbard and/or Eric Thomas. Obviously it isn't a great year for TEs in Ohio as most of the top guys project at other positions, but Hughes could be someone to watch down the road.

From the Wisconsin site...Akron, Cincinnati, Ball State, Marshall and Toledo have offered and Michigan State appears to be close.

I still say watch out for this kid at camp...he reminds me a bit of Scooter Dublin.

According to UC's press release, John signed with the Bearcats not MSU...

It was kind of a wierd situation...he disappeared from the MSU commit list about a month ago. It was reported in the paper that his offer was pulled for academic reasons. It wasn't a surprise to the MSU staff that he signed with UC.

Now Cedric Everson is another story.....

John Hughes was not the only player this year...George White (signed with Missouri) was in the same boat as Hughes.

It has happened in the past with some John L. recruits as well.
