'07 OH RB Frank Edmonds (Ball State signee)

Edmonds is St. Ed's MVP. Not Oliver, not Hubbard, not Morrow. If Edmonds didn't get hurt against Glenville, I think St. Edward wins the state title. I generally don't "hype" St. Ed's kids, but Edmonds is one of the most gifted runners I've ever seen. Kid can change directions on a dime and then explode to full speed. As Jruffing mentioned, he's built like a tank. I think he'll play college ball at around 200. I keep hearing that his size is a knock, but I'd rather have a RB who is 5'7, 200 than a RB who is 6'0, 205.

He was a workhorse last year, but nagging injuries caught up with him. Turf toe, bruised ribs, and finally a deep bone bruise to his knee against Glenville. But look for him to be a dominant, dominant player this year. Last year he ran for at least 200 yards against all the best teams on the schedule, except for Ignatius (130 or so).

No doubt Edmonds is a great back...but these injuries you just listed occurred during a HS season which is a fraction of the pounding he would take in a Big Ten season. Obviously the size concerns are legit. If you are 5'8" 200 pounds and run like you are 240, those injuries will be consistent. Admirable, but not durable.

Maurice Clarett and Chris Wells are two other kids who had a history of nagging injuries in high school, both significantly larger kids. Both carried the ball fewer times. Wells played against far lesser competition.

Let's be clear here however, Edmonds ran for almost 2,300 hundred yards in 12 games.

Tyrell Sutton was supposed to be too small, will get injured, etc, etc.

Watch Frank this year, you'll be blown away.

Clarett's injuries have been well documented. However, I am unaware of nagging injuries to Wells. I'm not doubting you, but I have not heard of any nagging injuries to Beanie.

no one is doubting whether Edmonds is a great back or not. and no one is doubting whether or not he can play in the Big 10. but even Clarrett and Pittman couldn't get through their first seasons unscathed. Sutton may not have gotten hurt, but once teams started focusing on him, his production dropped off (there is a 2-3 game stretch where he didn't sniff 100 yards). when it comes to Frank, I think what people are concerned about has more to do with whether he is going to get an offer from OSU or not. like grad21, I happen to think that he is probably going to end up with a slew of offers from great schools like Iowa, Illinois, Pitt, Northwestern, Purdue, etc. but probably not Ohio State. with his grades as good as they are I could even see a school like Stanford coming across the country to offer Frank. but the OSU staff has already offered Saine and are going to be very selective who gets any other offers at RB...could be Edmonds or it could be someone like Simpson, Williams, Gamble, Hughes, Martin, etc.

I understand the situation very clearly and I know he is not getting an offer. Nor am I lobbying for an offer in any way. All I'm saying is that he is a special talent, period. Oliver, Hubbard, Morrow.... all fantastic players, Edmonds is the best player on the team.
