OH DL Ian Vasil

Ian Vasil is a 6'2, 226 pound defensive tackle. He's a bit undersized at his position, but he showed his toughness & strength in that role. Vasil's most memorable play in his high school career was against Cleveland Glenville in 2004. On a 4th & goal inside the two yard line, Vasil, then a sophomore, stopped Tarblooder quarterback Arvell Nelson at the one yard line. That turnover set up one of the most memorable plays in school history, a 94 yard touchdown pass from Roger Matlock to Mario Manningham. To sum it up, Vasil is no stranger to big games, but he'll look to be more consistant in his senior season. After finishing the 05 season with a multiple sack performance from the defensive end position, he is expected to make the switch permanant in 06, in addition to playing outside linebacker. At his size, a solid performance from this hybrid position should draw Vasil loads of interest from Division 1A schools. Several MAC schools have already taken notice.
