'07 NY QB Mike Paulus (North Carolina signee)

They brought in David Cone this year, and Jason Forcier last year. If they bring in two this year, then that's 5 under scholarship with Henne being the only senior. Gotta think they'll bring in one top notch guy, then maybe a sleeper type.

They're going hard after Mallett from TX, and Forcier has a younger bro Chris that will also be a senior QB. The general feeling is that if Loeffler leaves they'll be at a disadvantage with Mallett.

Forcier's parents don't want the boys to compete with each other for P.T., so it is unlikely he will go to scUM.
I really like Paulus. I like him better than I did his brother. I think he's going to be a great prospect.

Rivals $

2/27

Mike is getting some big offers namely from Michigan, Pittsburg, Wisconsin, Tennessee, NCSU, Maryland, and Virginia. Also his father says USC, OSU, and ND are showing heavy interest. Again mentions he would like to decide early after some visits.

Not posting new news, but I just watched his highlights, and I can see why Weis has him #2 behind Clausen. He has nfl caliber mechanics, release and armstrength, and it looked like he had great accuracy on both deep and short routes. He might not be following the trend of Dual threat guys in our recent quarterbacks, but he looks like one heck of a qb. He reminded me of Schoenhoft to be honest, but his production stats wise was much better than Schoenhoft had.

HS stats mean nothing. Ben Mauk was the ohio high school leader in passing yards and didnt even get a sniff from us.

Robbie was under 50% for his senior season I believe, but yet he is looking to be a great QB here.

Paulus says ND and Michigan are his top 2 but I don't think he ends up at either school. I think both schools are only going to take 1 QB and ND's will be Clausen and Michigan's will be Mallett. Think Paulus ends up somewhere else. He's one of the best QB's in the nation though so he'll probably land somewhere great.

I thought Michigan told him that it is whoever is first to committ. If so he oculd still end up there.

He may have been told that but I doubt it's actually true. Mallett is the #1 player on Michigan's entire board. They want Mallett bad, real bad. They aren't going to put all of their eggs in one basket at QB because they need an elite one and they need an elite one badly. However, Mallett is the #1 player on their entire board. I think there is also some question as to how legitimate the Paulus offer is. Coaches give verbal offers all the time but unless the kid has the offer in paper is it really even an offer? Anywho, Texas was the main hurdle for Michigan to get past if they wanted Mallett, and Mallett and Texas have mutually parted ways.

Well that is just what he said to reporters. Texas pulled off b/c they got chiles and are looking real good for John Brantley.
