'07 NJ OL/DL Justin Trattou (Florida Verbal)

So, we llose a lot of DLmen, and get only Solomon Thomas and maybe Cameron Heyward... two very solid players. However, Florida loses a lot of DLmen and get Carlos Dunlap, Justin Trattau, Jerry Howard, Torrey Davis, Sidell Corley (still on the fence though) and possibly John Brown? I am scratching my head over this one...

Sometimes it is just how the chips fall...Look at our LB class class last year...

Just looking back thru UF's classes and the last 5 years they have had classes of

28, 27, 26, 24, and 17.

That is 122 kids. I know that they have early entrees to the draft, they have had kids not qualify, transfers, and kids get kicked out of schools.

Either way that is an insane amount and they are still saying they have about 4 or so more to go this year to make the class the size of 31. That coupled with last years class of 27 would make 58 kids.

My guess is they probably won't have many to give out next year...Well at least I would think not as they would be left with about 27 kids spread out over 2 classes...

To teams like Florida scholarships are a year to year thing (technically at all schools they are year to year), so if a kid fails to live up to expectations, out he goes.

Is that a common practice? I wouldn't think so, I recall Spurrier taking some heat for revoking some ships when he first got there and he even had a legitimate excuse, saying he didn't recruit them.

With that being said...I know that our coaches have been talked about how they don't get into the whole negative recruiting of other schools, but could they easily point out that at some of these schools if you get passed on the depth chart and aren't going to contribute they might take your schollie away, here it is guaranteed as long as you stay, not a year to year thing.

You would think that could be a thing for the staff to maybe look into when recruiting against a school like Florida...

you would think, but hot schools don't worry about that stuff. SEC schools typically do all sorts of underhanded things to thin out squads things like suspending tutors from a player. Things like that.

That just makes losing to a team like that even worse...I understand we probably have our side of shady things going here, but Tressell seems like he trys to the do the right thing, recruit kids that arent going to fail out academically and we havent tryed to get kids off the team that are just tying up schollies, like a kid like Lukens, would probalbly be shown the door at UF, but not here...

Guys, look closely at those recruiting classes, the 03 and 04 classes are filled with JUCOs. Also, they've undergone a coaching transition, which led to a lot of house-cleaning. We have 18 TOTAL seniors and juniors on the team. Next year UF will only be able to bring in about 15-20 kids.

Trattou flips from Notre Dame to Florida

Another day, another big commitment for Urban Meyer and Florida.
Rivals.com reports tonight that Ramsey (N.J) Don Bosco defensive end Justin Trattou has switched his commitment from Notre Dame to Florida.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder is ranked 17th nationally at his position.
?I committed to Florida today,? Trattou told Rivals. ?[Notre Dame] Coach [Charlie] Weis was in yesterday and Coach Meyer was in today and I just feel I fit better in Florida?s system. To see what those defensive ends can do and how they play at Florida is more of my style of play.?

People are kidding themselves if they think the NC game had nothing to do with his line of thinking. Florida always recruits well, but they have been unstoppable since the NC game. Oh well, i would actually rather have Justin @ UF than ND, keep the domers away from the good defensive recruits.

Numbers don't add up for Trattou -- or Irish

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

BOB WIENEKE
Tribune Staff Writer

During his introductory press conference, new Notre Dame defensive coordinator Corwin Brown was asked if he's more comfortable running a 4-3 defense or a 3-4. Brown played it down the middle, responding that he has a background in both and that he wanted to learn his personnel.

We now know an answer, and apparently it wasn't the one Justin Trattou wanted to hear.

"It just means that next year," Lemming said, "they've got to put unbelievable emphasis on getting defensive players."
yeah....the last 2 years didn't show anybody that they need to put unbelievable emphasis on getting defensive players.
