By Bill Greene...Mississippi State, Boston College, South Carolina and Ohio State have been in touch. He is supposed to find out tomorrow night if OSU is interested in having him come in for a visit.

Corey says he has spoken to Coach Fickell and is waiting to hear if tOSU will offer. The article claims that Corey ran a 4.38 while repping 185 20 times.

I'm not doubting the listed attributes but I cannot find the Nike stats anywhere...during a NC Shrine Bowl combine:
Darrington ran the 40-yard dash in 4.78 seconds and 20-yard shuttle in 4.56 seconds. The 5-foot-11, 210-pounder also vertically jumped 34.1 inches and benched 185 pounds 19 times.
Possibly a bad day or a slip...but there is a vast difference between 4.38 and 4.78.

34-inch vertical is a good indication that he is not just a big, powerful running back, though. That is a nice athletic accomplishment.

It is very rare to hear of a guy with this kind of size and strength running a sub-4.4...I don't really believe it, either. Saine I believe, because he's proven his blazing ability numerous times with a stopwatch (and he's nationally recognized as one of the fastest high schoolers). EDIT: I see the link to the 10.8 - 100. That is impressive. Whatever it means in the forty, you can compare him to Jam O'Neal. 10.8 was about the fastest he did in the 100, and he looks fast on the football field (if somewhat confused).

Darrington's team went 9-5 this year, including a narrow 20-14 defeat to Charlotte Independence of the 108-game winning streak. He ran for 3 TD's and 149 yards in his teams' loss in the playoffs. Link

Some photos from earlier in the year...

Most of these kids dont run true 4.4's either. 40 times are about practice and technique. The best measure (well the most accurate anyway) of his true speed is his 10.8 in the 100. His measurables look fine to me.

I wish I could see some video though. Anyone seen any??

longtime lurker, first time poster. Great board you guys have.

Was bored and found a little more about Darrington. This link goes to a pdf file of a HS preview from a Charlotte NC publication. Info on Darrington starts at the bottom of page 2. It says he ran for 1,500+ yards and 26 TDs as a junior - which doesn't suck.

Anyway, with junior numbers like that, apparently pretty good speed, decent size and from all accounts a pretty good senior year, too - isn't it just strange that he's on no one's radar whatsoever?

Either way, the more I read about the kid, the more I warm up to OSU taking a shot if Green passes on the Bucks.
