'07 MN LB Bryce McNaul (Northwestern Verbal)

Scout $

Video of Bryce.

My Take: He looks like your prototypical Mike. He really fills the hole fast and he will take you on in the hole. He also shows great leg drive after contact and he looks to have sideline to sideline speed. He already possess great size and only has time to grow. I would love to see him get an offer.

Tressels stage a friendly recruiting battle
It's a congenial tug of war over prized high school recruits when members of one family represent three different college football programs.

Dick Tressel, the former Hamline head football coach, is now the running backs coach at Ohio State under his brother, Jim, the head coach.

Dick's son, Mike, is the linebackers coach at the University of Cincinnati. And another son, Luke, who played football for his father at Hamline, is the wide receivers coach for the Gophers.

Now all three -- Dick, Mike and Luke -- are recruiting against each other for Bryce McNaul, the outstanding Eden Prairie linebacker.

You would think a father would have a hard time feeling good about trying to outrecruit two of his sons.

A year ago, Ohio State successfully recruited Wayzata linebacker James Laurinaitis.

"No, we don't have a family problem," Luke said. "This is our job."

U recruiting goes well
Among Luke Tressel's recruiting assignments is Cretin-Derham Hall, where a lot of colleges are after defensive lineman Broderick Binns.
The Gophers football team already has seven players from the state committed to attending, with a good chance wide receiver David Gilreath will commit any day. Wisconsin and Iowa State also have offered scholarships to the former Minneapolis Washburn wide receiver now at Robbins- dale Armstrong.
The Gophers are getting a very good reaction from recruits who they are checking on this month.
If the Gophers would get early commitments from Gilreath, McNaul and Binns, they would have 10 of the top players in the state committed and wouldn't lose the in-state players they are really after for the first time in a long time.

Update by BSB. Bryce said he recently received a letter from Doc Tressel telling him OSU is interested but taking their time with LBs this year. Bryce says he has 10 offers and is also interested in Wisconsin and Ohio State.
