'07 MI OL/DL Darris Sawtelle (Tennessee Verbal)

Sawtelle's grandfather is a Tennessee legend. Most of his family still lives in Tennessee. You really think he'd be at UT if he didn't have that kind of connection to the program and state?

Michigan locks up the top talent that they want in-state every year. Look at how many top notch in-state players they've lost that they really wanted in the past 15-20 years. You can count the number on one had.

you can probably count on one had the number of top notch in-state players from michigan in any given year. There's generally not much top talent there, so not many oos schools have made many in roads. that certainly helps michigan keep guys home. as for this year, michigan may get allen and johnson, but that still wont help the sting of losing barksdale and colasanti.

Thanks for your crystal ball dude! How do you know Michigan will even lose Barksdale and Colosanti by the way? I don't remember either kid saying they've dropped Michigan or that they've committed to another school.

As long as we get Allen and Johnson, I'm fine with that. They are the cream of the crop in the state and are both Top 5 CB's nationally. Barksdale would be nice, but if/when Kates and Slocum qualify there might not be alot of room for him at DT anyways. I'm still not going to count Michigan out in the Barksdale race either. Facts are facts. Michigan doesn't lose in-state kids that they want to OOS schools. Ever. It's happened one time in the last 15-20 years that I can remember, and that was Bettis to Notre Dame. Every other top in-state kid they've really wanted they lost to MSU, and that number was two in Charles Rogers and TJ Duckett.

I agree with you on not losing the instate talent, but this year is a year for the ages in terms of talent in the state. They lost Sawtelle and COULD lost Colasanti and Barksdale.

They should get Johnson and Allen, but while Corners are great to have, it stings to lose top notch guys instate. We have that feeling with maybe about 2 to 3 prospects a year and there isnt anything that the coaches could of done.

Just like Manningham, he was going to Michigan and there was nothing we could do about and same with Boren. There was nothing you guys could of done with Sawtelle and Colasanti seems to have ppl pushing him to PSU.
