I took that little blurb to mean that he has discussed his situation with OSU and that they have not revoked the offer. I would find that to be incredible if true.

Update from Alabama Rivals site. Lazear's father talks about how great the 'Bama staff has been to them. Pat Lazear plans to announce early but is waiting to see how his legal issues unfold. He still says Alabama and Ohio State are his final two.

As far as Lazear goes, he and Willie Williams can go play "touch" football in Sing Sing.
He was driving the car for goodness sake. Even OJ got off so to me it's not a matter of "guilt" anymore, it's guilt by association.
There is no way on Gods green earth that this guy still has a scholarship...that much I guarantee! Tressel's no chump.

I have a friend who played against Lazear when he was only a freshman...said even then that he was one of the biggest, fastest kids he's played against; he got de-cleated on a kickoff by Lazear.
He also said he was crazy, and based on the stories he heard about this guy, wasn't really all that surprised to hear he got arrested.

I really believe that this is one untouchable kid...I don't see him getting a "ride" anywhere.
Now he may go and walk on to Podunk U but not a D1 school.
As we all know, there is always someone that will give him another chance and unfortunately it's usually because their job is in jeopardy.
As a matter of fact, anyone who gives away any University/College monies for a scholarship should be fired post haste. There are so many more DESERVING kids out there.
Right now his "old man" is dislusional!

The fact that the staff has stepped up the recruiting of McNaul and apparently invited Elliot in for an unofficial despite his reported academic qualification issues says legion about Lazear. He may keep mentioning OSU, but he is not going to be accepted by the staff.

Craig Haubert lists Lazear #4 ILB prospect in the nation. Lazear still claims OSU and Alabama are his final two, and he will decide before the season begins.
Lazear is eyeing early graduation to get a head start, "I plan on graduating early and going in (to college) in January. Best-case scenario, I really want to start, or at least get playing time, my freshman year, but if not, it is not a big blow."
As an aside, while looking over the Scouts, Inc. recruiting list, their #6 ILB prospect, Decatur, AL native Rolando McClain, has already committed to Alabama. It sounds as though one door for Lazear to D1A has closed.

If you read back through the thread, even back to the first post, it has always been pretty apparent that Pat favors OSU and Alabama. The kid has a pretty impressive offer list beyond OSU and UA (Oklahoma, Pitt, NC State, Georgia, Maryland, Nebraska, etc.)...
