'07 IN RB Darren Evans (Virginia Tech Verbal)

Some see Boom as a LB...I personally don't. I think/know Pitt is gone. I think Wells is your #1 back and Saine and Boom will probably compete to be the #2. Mo Wells is still just a third down or situational back and I don't see that all of a sudden changing. A third back in this class, such as Evans would completely restock the cupboard, and why not when there are so few schollies to go around next year.

I second this...I think that after Pitt leaves we aren't going to have a rb that has been thru a full season of work in the big ten, so the more rbs the better the situatoin for us...

FYI, Evans was very high on Wisconsin, and if he would have had a legit offer he would have likely committed there. The Wisconsin staff didn't show him much interest in actuality (maybe because they were very confident about Clay then), and he decided to go down south to Virginia. But he very much did want to stay in the midwest, and if he has a legit Buckeye offer, I think it's probable he'd make the switch. You'd be getting a good one. I liked what I saw from him on video.

The 6-1, 212-pound Evans made his blockers look good. He ran for 2,806 yards and set a state record by rushing for 61 touchdowns, the No. 4 total in U.S. prep football history.
In his career, he rushed for 7,220 yards and 127 touchdowns. Warren Central won all four Class 5A state championships.
As unbelievable as those numbers are, not everyone is an Evans believer. A perceived lack of speed caused some colleges, including Ohio State and Michigan, to back off in recruiting.

Now that 4 Warren Central players are headed to IU (2 verballed today including 4-star Finch, UM-decommit), I wonder if he might reconsider playing close to home...

The funny thing is if you look back through the Rivals updates, the Arkansas faithful felt they had a read good shot at landing the Warren Central contingent.
