Florida State's loss is Florida's gain as three more Lakeland football players Wednesday -defensive back Ahmad Black and offensive linemen Maurkice and Michael Pouncey -- announced they committed to the Gators.
They join running back Chris Rainey, who announced his decision last month to attend Florida.
Black, a 5-foot-10 1/2 defensive back, made his decision after recently participating in a football camp at Florida. He said he always dreamed of playing college football on Florida Field, but not necessarily wearing the Gators' orange and blue.
"I thought I'd be wearing garnett and gold playing for Florida State, because I used to be a Seminoles fan," Black said. "Things changed."
Black said FSU didn't recruit him very hard. Florida did and participating in the camp in Gainesville clinched his decision.
"It made me feel like home," Black said. "And I like that it's close to home."
Black said he received offers from 22 schools, including Ohio State, LSU, Iowa, Iowa State, North Carolina, South Carolina and Clemson.
A versatile defensive back and kick returner who has been clocked at 4.5 in the 40, Black was recruited as a cornerback. He played safety as a freshman and cornerback as a sophomore at Kathleen, then moved back to safety last year after transferring to Lakeland. Last season, Black was a second-team, All-State selection in Class 5A.
Black has a 3.2 GPA and is undecided about his major. He said he will be finished with his classes in December and said it's unlikely that he will take any recruiting trips to anywhere other than Florida.

Pouncey The Pouncey twins had originally committed to Florida State last summer but changed their minds during the season.
"We wanted to explore our options," Maurkice Pouncey said.
Maurkice and his brother also attended the Gators camp and liked the experience.
"We got together and talked with our family so we could make the right decision," Maurkice said.
Maurkice is a 6-41/2, 282-pound guard, and Michael is a 6-41/2, 287-pound tackle. Both players, Maurkice said, are expected to play guard in college.
That Rainey and Black already committed to Florida played a small factor in their decision, but it wasn't as big a selling point for both players as the Gators' offensive line coach, Steve Addazio, who has a good reputation of sending linemen to the NFL.
"He has sent 17 players to the NFL and he can help us get ready for the NFL," Maurkice said, adding that he and his brother always intended to go to the same college.
In their first seasons as varsity starters last year, both players were first-team, All-State selections in Class 5A.
Another Dreadnaught, tight end Jordan Hammond, committed to LSU last week, giving Lakeland five commitments to SEC schools.
