'06 PA WR Wesley Lyons (West Virginia signee)

Rivals $

1/6/06

From the BC site...Wesley talks about BC at length and then talks about being at the Fiesta Bowl with ND commit Darrin Walls.

The BC people must have heard that this was turning into a two horse race and got on the phone pronto...

I've got news for them... It is a two horse race. The move of Devon to safety, coupled with our performance in the Fiesta have really moved us up with Wesley.

I think Lyons recruitment is very interesting. We have Chichester and most likely Small coming. Matthews looks like a possibility now. If Matthews were to come here, do you think an offer would even still be out to Lyons? With 3 WR's signed, I don't think Lyons is a "can't miss" kind of guy and I'm not sure we would take him if we get Matthews.

Slipped my mind. What I should have said is he will see the chance of playing early considering the lack of playmakers at that position.

Playing early may not help him too much in the WV offensive scheme.

Is the WVU philospohy going to change if they have more playmakers at wide receiver? Seems unlikely to me considering how good they were rushing the ball last season. Plus, their primary rushing weapons (White and Slaton) have just finished their freshman seasons.

They were 5th in the nation in rushing and 3rd-from-last in passing this season. They were 12th-from-last in 2004 and 14th-from-last in 2003 in passing. How many balls are going to be thrown his way, even if he is the #1 playmaker in the passing game?

True and I took that into consideration BUT he may feel he'll have the talent to make them open that part of the game up.

Nothing against Wesley Lyons, but I would rather OSU get Greg Mathews if he wants to change his committment. If after this weekend he says he's solid with UM, then I'm all for Wesley Lyons at OSU.

I'm just curious as to why you are saying this? I like Lyons for the fact that he is a taller guy than Mathews, someone you can go with in the redzone, and is actually faster according to Rivals 40 times as well as stronger. Sure, everyone can become faster and stronger throught college S&C programs, but as of right now Lyons seems to be "more ready." I really would like to see him with his brother at the same school. I see Mathews just coming to visit to make him mom happy, just making sure scUM is where he really wants to be.
