'06 OK SF/PF (JUCO) Ty Morrison (Missouri Verbal)

Former teammate of current buckeye Sylvester Mayes

I like this plan, b/c we have enough talent in the 07/08 classes, yet still need another PF for 2006. This would lighten the depth chart for recruiting players in 08.

edit: I love Raymar and want him, but if he is still peeved about waiting for an offer this kid may be a good alternative.

I see us taking a JUCO in this class even with Morgan or someone else. We only have 6 schollie players going into '07. A little bit of experience would be nice to go with our Frosh class regarldess of how talented they are.

Ty Morrison 6'8" Junior Trevor Browne (Phoenix AZ)
Arizona Player of the Year. Big time body and athlete who can finish with the best of them. Also a big time shot blocker. Underrated jumpshot that is very effective and a solid ballhandler who can get by defenders from the wing. Has a tendency to coast
because he is more talented than players in AZ, but when he turns it on he is a
definite high major talent. Top 75 prospect that is moving closer to the top 50 nationally after Hal Pastner's Las Vegas event.

I'd still MUCH much rather have Morgan, but sounds like this kid could be a great fit for that coveted PF spot. Being a JUCO, we won't put all of our eggs into one basket (7 recruits in one class). Morrison has a good jumpshot, solid handles, finishes strong, and blocks shots (with Oden next to him, we'd have a hell of a blocking D!). If he can get on the offensive boards and do all the little things, I think he's a keeper! Even if Morgan comes our way, I'd still take this guy as number six.

#1 JUCO in the nation? Thad sure shoots high, doesn't he?

This name has been floating around the big ten in recent months with Indiana and Purdue hot on his trail, but I have to believe this is just a lot of speculation when it comes to Ohio State. Morgan is the #1 target in my opinion.
Agreed...as I alluded to above, I think Morrison could be an interesting option as a Plan B if Morgan heads to East Lansing...

Someone on the staff saw Morrison play at a tournament last week and this may be why the interest in him has picked back up.

Having him ranked ahead of a guy like Weems really says something, considering Weems has offers from the likes of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Kansas, Memphis and Oklahoma State.

After speaking with someone vey close to the conleys (this has been verified on other boards as well)... he feels hat this guy is most likely the target of Matta at this point. I'm sure Morgan not showing us love has to do with it (and that could change afer the Texas game visit), and IIRC we have room for both of them unless we lost a schollie due ot NCAA punishment.

his name is Takais Brown, and he's a 6-8 240 pound PF from Southeastern Illinois Junior College. He's more of a banger, and not Thad Matta's typical four, but he is a great rebounder and he does a lot of the dirty work they want. If Morgan falls through, he could be a spring option. I still feel Ty Morrison is an option although his coach doesn't seem to be indicating as much on the record.
