'06 OH WR Josh Chichester (Louisville signee)

5/5/05

Josh is waiting for an football offer from OSU, he could join the BB team at no cost so to speak for Matta. According to Josh, Matta has ensured him that he would be a "viable" part of the BB team if he comes to OSU on a football scholie.

Illinois, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Purdue, Pittsburgh are recruiting him the hardest. Josh has contact with OSU and they keep him updated on the situation. He has no favorite and says every school is equal at this point.

(The chances of Chichester ending up at OSU is clearly up to Tressel at this point, I believe he will possibly offer Josh a scholie at the OSU camp, this would be huge for the basketball program to get a player of his caliber and not use a BB scholie.)<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

From Bucknuts...Josh has received three new football offers: Akron, UNC and Michigan State. Auburn and LSU has also expressed interest. WVU is also expected to send a written offer.

We move on today with our countdown of the Ohio High top 100 with players 11-20. On this portion of the list, we find a quarterback on the rise, a couple of the state's top overall athletes, and we start to get into the great offensive line prospects everyone is talking so much about. Chichester is ranked as the #13 prospect in Ohio for 2006. Uses his size to his advantage and needs to fill out and get stronger.

From the Cincy site.....Josh is still wide open at this point and is trying to decide what school would be the best fit for him. Illinois and Notre Dame are two schools he is interested in, he says Cincy would be sixth on his list. No mention of Ohio State.

Josh Chichester of West Chester (Oh.) Lakota West has more than his share of college options for both football and basketball, and several schools want him for both. At the recent photo shoot for the Ohio High School Football Guide Tremendous 26 (http://www.hssp.cc), we caught up with Chichester for a couple interviews, one of them a Bucknuts TV interview. Click the link to check out both items.

Josh is weighing around 214 pounds. He has offers from North Carolina, Illinois, Purdue, Notre Dame just to name a few but he says he is waiting on Ohio State. He has not heard from Coach Matta lately. Josh is not sure what camps he will attend. He says he is leaning towards Illinois at this point but if OSU offered that could change.

Teammate of Josh's

I've played on the field with Josh since Freshman year...i was with him when he came in 8th grade and have loved playing next to this kid.

To say he's good is an understatement, i don't care what anybody says about Josh, during the 04-05 season he WAS our offense. We never used anybody but him, except when Dane tried to make things happen to break up the amazing plays by Josh.

He deserves OSU, he's always been better, none of you knew him like i did in freshman year and i can tell you this. He's back to playing the same competition...and you all will be in for a treat watching this kid demolish every single DB in the league.

Yes, EVERY DB

Yeah, Josh was really the only weapon West had last year w/ Romero playing quarterback. He pretty much forced Coach Cox get out of the dark ages and throw the ball a little bit. Hopefully, you guys have a solid qb to get him the ball this year... Dane was the first decent passer West had since they started.

Josh isn't going to be a wide receiver in college, though. He's not all that fast (which is to be expected when you're 6'8), but he's a great athlete and will make a HELLUVA tight end after he hits the weight room. Hopefully, he shows up to camp, b/c if he does what he's capable of, he'll get an offer.

I've mentioned this before (must've either been split off from here or in another thread that had Chichester in it), but there's no way that Chichester is going to be a TE...no way. At 6'8" he'd have to get up at least 260+ to turn into a TE-type physique...he just doesn't have the frame for it, plus if you think he's slow now...

I don't think Chichester is all that slow...I think with some speed training he can get down to under 4.6, which isn't world class speed but good enough to go with that great height...he'd be a solid possession receiver.

Plus keep in mind that this kid has solid skills for basketball so it would be much smarter to become a WR than a TE if he wants to keep his basketball possibilities open.

I think he will be one these hybrid WR/TE guys like Mike Williams or Vincent Jackson-6'5 240, Chargers 2nd round pick. From some of his comments, he seems to be favorably predisposed to the Buckeyes. W/ Thad Matta tag teaming on this recruitment, I think we get him.
