    Height: 6-foot-5
    Weight: 295 pounds
    40-yard dash: 5.2 seconds

Rivals rates him as #75 player overall and #9 OL in the country. Interest in Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, Washington, and Hawaii. Although he has no interest in Ohio State, his being in my town warrants my checking into him more.

Recruiting experts, as I am technically a booster (dues-paying member of the local alumni association although I'm not an actual alum), what are my limits of contact and association?

Can boosters be involved in the recruiting process?

Boosters are prohibited in engaging in any recruiting activities either on or off campus. A booster can speak on the phone to a prospect only if the prospect initiates the telephone call and the call is not for recruiting purposes.

<li>Is there any way a booster can help identify prospects?

A booster can assist the coaching staff in the recruiting process by notifying them of any student they think would be a strong addition to the University and the athletics program. Boosters may also send Ohio State's coaching staff any newspaper clippings or other information about prospects. The coach can then make the appropriate contact. Boosters are also permitted to attend high school or two year college athletic contests or other events where prospects may compete on their own. Boosters are not permitted to contact the prospect or the prospect's parent(s) or legal guardian(s) at these events.

The only player from Hawaii to play for Ohio State was punter Scott Terna, who is not Hawaiian by blood but rather a Caucasian born and raised on Oahu. Both his parents were OSU grads and that's the connection that got him involved with OSU football. So, we've yet to recruit and get a commitment from someone from Hawaii.

Although I have only seen him play on television, he had a fairly impressive junior season. Moves pretty well for someone his size. His brother (OL) signed with Hawaii this past year. As of right now, Micah is probably the top recruit in the state. Mili, if you want to get a look at him, Mililani will be scrimmaging at Saint Louis on Saturday (not sure what time).

I just e-mailed the Mililani AD and asked him to see if the football head coach would let me tape the scrimmage (the head coach's e-mail wasn't listed on the MHS website). If I get the green light, I'll go check out Micah and get some tape of him.

You know, it's too bad I'm technically a booster (member of the local alumni club) or else I could try an interview or one of our 10-questions session with him.

The AD replied back this afternoon and said it was OK for me to tape the scrimmage, but I don't what time it starts. Oh well...their first real game is next Friday evening at home, so I'll go check him out then.

Not Buckeye related, but since he's still on the board, and I need to catch up to Mili's post total, a short update on Micah. Unfortunately, he broke his tibia in the scrimmage and will be sidelined for a while. He looked pretty good in the scrimmage. Fairly good feet for a big guy, did a good job of getting to the second level to cut off LB's on runs, needs a little work on pass pro, like most high school prospects. Has a nice offer list according to the local paper. To put a little Big 10 perspective on this, the only schools that have been actively recruiting Hawaii recently have been Wisconsin (starting OL Raiola and a backup LB/DB, QB coach used to recruit players for UNLV), Michigan State (DC is a former Hawaii assistant), Penn State (current assistant is a former Hawaii player), and Northwestern.

Well, sometimes sitting at the computer on a Saturday afternoon pays off. Just had a kid (about 6'2", 230-240, I'd guess) ring the door bell, selling fund-raiser cards for Mililani's football team. Turns out he's Micah's replacement (is already a starting OL, but they moved him over to fill in for Micah). He said that Micah should be out only 3-4 weeks. Mililani's first game is next Saturday evening (27th) at Aloha Stadium. The kid's name is Brandon De La Cruz, so he may be someone to keep an eye on.

I hope my buying one of those cards isn't an NCAA violation.
