Culmer St. Jean, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound safety prospect at Naples (Fla.) Lely High School, expects to take his two remaining official visits to Ohio State and South Florida. St. Jean and his Lely teammate, cornerback Wondy Pierre-Louis, have only recently been receiving interest from the Buckeyes.

“Yeah, they came in late, so coach sent some film right before break, before the holidays,” St. Jean said.

Apparently, the Buckeyes’ coaches liked what they saw. St. Jean said that an Ohio State coach will be flying to visit Lely early next week, following the Buckeyes Jan. 2 Fiesta Bowl matchup with Notre Dame. St. Jean expects the duo to each receive OSU scholarship offers. If the offers indeed materialize, they will make official visit plans for Columbus.

“Ohio State, they are a great school,” St. Jean said. “They are already there. They shared the Big Ten (championship), so I’m interested. And they’re showing interest because two of their corners are possibly going to the NFL Draft.”

“They are a really big-time school and I want to play some big-time football,” St. Jean added. “So it would be wrong for me (to) not just (give) them a look.”

St. Jean previously took official visits to Minnesota (Dec. 2), West Virginia (Dec. 9) and Wisconsin (Dec. 16). He said that those programs are “all pretty much even.” He still plans to take all five of his official visits before making a final decision.

Well from the sound of that article if we offer he is ours. He says he wants to play big time football and we are the biggest one on his list.

He sounds like a really nice prospect, has great size, so we will see, if the coaches are that impressed to fly out after the fiesta bowl and give this kid an offer well then that is fine by me.

Edit: In an article from the Wisky scout site he claims to of ran a 10.9 100m dash as a sophmore. That is very good for a Sophmore, so the kid has some serious speed, and if it is still the same speed to go with that 215 lb frame of his, he could be a major terror at safety.

    West Virginia Rivals - 12/23/05

The first mention of Ohio State as a suitor for St.-Jean and Pierre-Louis. St.-Jean is from the Bahamas, and is of Haitian descent; Pierre-Louis is also Haitian. Despite their tropical roots, weather apparently will not be a factor, as both players are considering primarily northern schools.

Lely High's head coach is married to a WVU grad, and the school's defensive coordinator is also a Mountaineer, so look for West Virginia to be a major player.

Interestingly, St.-Jean played QB for his high school team.

Culmer looks like an LB to me....

In the near future, Culmer expects an in-home visit from members of the Ohio State coaching staff, and he expects to receive an offer at that time. If OSU does in fact offer, then he will make an official visit to Columbus. He is being recruited as a safety/linebacker.

What is going on with the CB recruiting? They cancel the Ricky Gary visit this weekend and Ashton Henderson 's visit is postponed. Now the talk about offering someone else. We're all hoping that Wallace commits and that's the reason for the visit schedule changes.

St. Jean has nothing to do with CB recruiting... It's his buddy Pierre-Louis that is the CB target.
Again, trust the staff, they know what is best for the team...
