'06 FL RB C.J. Spiller (Clemson Verbal)

From the Film Study: 101 blog:

C.J. Spiller {FL}:
Good quality videos which show an athletic kid. Great speed and great moves. He is listed as 5-11, but appears a little smaller than that. Either way, he plays smaller when he is in behind his blockers, but then can either run by you or through you once he is in the open field. I think he might be a little unpolished at this point, i.e. little things like changing which hand he is carrying the ball with, etc. But he has a ton of athletic ability. C.J. is listed with a 4.4 and it looks like he is every bit that fast. He is a dangerous kick returner as well.

I love what I saw from Spiller. I would rate him as a definite top 5 national RB. If you have not already, you should check out the free video. It is absolutely awesome. I would say he is FSU's to lose if not for their RB depth. He has mentioned the possibility of playing DB at FSU, so you know he is very interested in being a Seminole.

Ohio State recently visited him along with Florida State, Georgia, USC, Clemson, North Carolina, Nebraska and NC State. Florida, Florida State, Miami, Auburn, USC, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Georgia, Tennessee, and Clemson are his top ten but he says that could change. He mentions Florida State has being special.

Spiller is a Nole.

that is right on...he wears a #28 charm of Warrick Dunn as his favorite player...also changed his HS number to Dunn's and wears FSU gear to school all the time...the only thing that could scare him from FSU is how stacked the RB backfield is, but even then i think he picks FSU over UF...

Everyone has running back C.J. Spiller pegged to FSU or perhaps Florida, depending on what camp you talk to. But when I talked with Spiller last night he claims he is open between the Noles, Gators, Vols, Dawgs, Canes, Sooners and Buckeyes.

C.J. Spiller is a prospect that we have all been hearing about for quite some time. The rising senior from Lake Butler (Fla.) Union County was one of the MSL (Gainesville, Fla.) camp stars last season as a sophomore. And back in early April he was one of the most talked about players at the Scout.com combine in Jacksonville, where he ran a 4.28… twice.

“That combine (Scout.com) was a great experience for me,” said Spiller. “I was surprised that I ran that quick. I told everyone before hand that I was going to run a 4.2 but no one believed me, including me. I was just hoping to run around 4.3.”

Spiller, 5-11 and 185 pounds, is considered one of the elite running back prospects from the Class of 2006. Last season as a junior he ripped off 1,415 yards and scored 20 touchdowns. If his spring jamboree is any indication of what could happen this fall then the Union County opponents are in big trouble. Last week against Gainesville (Fla.) Buchholtlz, Spiller only rushed the ball ten times but still managed 197 yards and three scores.

In regards to recruiting Spiller grew up loving the Florida State Seminoles. But Florida and some other schools have made big moves and Spiller claims he is open between the Noles, Gators and everyone else.

“FSU has a great team and they play great defense. I think their offense is suited for me. Bobby Bowden is an incredible coach and one of the best of all time. He’s a great guy. Everyone thinks I am going to school there because I grew up a FSU fan but it doesn’t mean I will sign with them. But they are up there. Right now I like Florida State, Florida, Miami, Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio State and Oklahoma.

“Florida has come on very strong. I like the environment and the coaches. Gainesville is only 30 minutes away and I love the way they play football under coach (Urban) Meyer. I talk with him about once a week.

“I like Miami and many people compare my game to (Clinton) Portis. Miami is a running team and I feel real good about their offense and coach (Larry) Coker.

“Tennessee runs a lot out of the “I”. They also have great tradition and support. I visited there last week and I really like it. I like the coaches and players.

“Georgia is a team that is very balanced on offense and they play great, great defense.

“I like the depth chart situation at Ohio State. They have a great program with a great coaching staff. ”Oklahoma is a school that just has great people… coaches and players. And they always find a way to win. ”Everyone thinks that I am going to FSU or that it will come down to FSU and Florida. Really, I am open and am trying to take that approach.”

The person I spoke to said that c.j. asked alot more questions than most recruits do. It seems like c.j. is doing his homework so he can make the best decision. overall he said that c.j. seemed to be pretty excited to be there.
I guess will have to wait and see
