This whole thing makes no sense! Does it?
how so? the kid likes OSU and the coaching staff has obviously remained in close contact.
why the ?
I hear ya OSUBucks22...and I'm sure you would agree with me that while T.J. may not ba a top priority I can't say I don't understand why we are at least keeping in contact with him. There are a lot of positives to talk about with Porter:
The article lists him at 6-1 185 with a 4.5...so I think it is reasonable to assume that he has improved his 40 time since the Tampa combine. Hazell calls him every other week, so obviously the staff, who seem to know what they are doing, are very interested in him. He can play on either side of the ball, meaning he fits well into the Tressel style of recruiting. We have had sucess with lesser known recruits out of Florida. And he is putting up great numbers this year in Flrodia playing for the defending state champion (although his school is in Class 2B down there).
I guess my point is that there is a lot to like here and it certainly doesn't hurt to remain in contact with kids like Porter. Does he get an offer eventually? I would not be surprised if he didn't, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did if we missed out on several other players like Wallace, Hill, Mathews, Duvalt, etc.
Agreed 100%. I've heard some complain that we aren't in on enough players (ahem, ahem) and then they turn around and complain about the ones we are in on. Doesn't make sense to me. If the staff's interested, them I'm interested.
Ok! The stats I saw, 6ft, 170, 4.84 40, just didn't impress. Now, if Hazel is in contact, that says it all! I think Hazel is a great evaluator of talent. And I would have to trust him!
