actually depending on the county you are in Texas has a lower sales tax, Ohio and texas both have a sales tax that varies from county to county, and even if you take the highest county in texas and the lowest county in ohio, it is around a 2% diffrence. And please remember that on many items it is your choice to buy and subsequently pay the sales tax.trinitytex said:The day Texas goes undefeated and doesn't qualify for the BCS will be the day... well, it'll be a very rare day.
All other problems have been solved in this great state. Ignore the man behind the curtain.
"I do take comfort in the fact that we have no state income tax"
Of course we have higher sales taxes and property taxes. And the education system is crumbling, but we did pass Mississippi AND Arkansas.
Its funny how things go in circles. I can remember saying these same things 6 or 7 years ago, (maybe even 3 or 4) when all we ever heard from keith jackson and the rest of 'em was how tough of a schedual the big ten plays. At the time the big ten was down. It didn't make it a bad confrence, just was down.Buckeyeskickbuttocks said:I've said it before, and I'll say it again... no Big XII team should EVER be allowed to play for all the marbles again. EVER. Period.
Big XII Blog
Oh, and for what it's worth, you posters have been pretty cool, so you can overlook what I said about "texas fans" on that blog. Every other UT fan I've run across is a jackass.
I hope the Big Ten never sells out and gets a championship game. It would gain them money (which is nice for them, but what does it get us fans?), and some team would say, "Yippee! We won the conference championship game!" I think it would be like the Big XII or SEC title games, where the 4-loss team plays against a 0 or 1 loss team. But a championship game can damage the Big Ten in several ways: first, an undefeated, national-championship game-bound team can go into the conference championship game and lose, losing its chance for an NC. I know, I know, if they want to win the NC, they need to win the games. I agree. But the conference championship game is basically a no-lose game for the undefeated team's opponent. (If they lose, so what? Its an undefeated team. If they win, then it's the biggest news since Pete Rose.) The worst thing, though, that a championship game can ruin in the Big Ten is the one million years of history. The Ohio State - Michigan game has been the last regular season game for both teams since 1935, and it has determined the conference champion something like 500 times (ok - I exagerate). To get a championship game, you have to put Ohio State and Michigan separate divisions, and they won't play each other every year, or in the same division, and the OSU-UM game is no longer for the championship. Too much is ruined by a conference championship game.High Lonesome said:On another note, Will the big 10 ever play a championship game? Do you ever get tiered or tiebrakers and split titles and so on?
Good point.. There seems to be enough nationwide ND fans to support them on NBC, regardless of how many losses they get. That's fine with me. I hope they don't join the Big Ten. Or, more precisely, I hope they WANT to join the Big Ten, but the Big Ten tells them to go suck a kite.luckobucko said:The only way ND caves is if the Big Ten breaks away from ABC and signs a broadcast contract with NBC..
