Ramella played middle linebacker against cols. desales, nothing really stood out except that he's was one of the bigger fellas on the field, st. ignatius lost that game by the way mainly because of a lack of run defense especially up the middle. he looked ok at tight end but he's a bit undersized to fit that mold at osu....i guess he was at osu's junior day so maybe they are interested?

Ramella commits to Boston College
Saturday, July 03, 2004
Eddie Dwyer
Plain Dealer Reporter
Boston College has landed one of the top football prospects in The Plain Dealer's seven-county coverage area.

Jim Ramella of St. Ignatius, whose skills at tight end and linebacker caught the attention of several major-college programs, has given a verbal commitment to the Eagles. He will enter his senior season at St. Ignatius and plans to sign a national letter of intent with BC during the NCAA signing period in February 2005.

Among the other universities recruiting Ramella were Notre Dame, Michigan State, Indiana, Maryland, Bowling Green, Ball State, Pittsburgh and Northwestern.

Ramella, recruited by Boston College assistant coach Jim Bridge, a St. Edward graduate, said he is excited about BC's move to the Atlantic Coast Conference. His brother, Pat, will be a freshman at BC in the fall. Pat Ramella ran cross country for St. Ignatius.

Rated as one of the top 35 senior prospects in the state by Ohio High Magazine, the 6-4, 240-pound Ramella made more than 80 tackles last season and caught five touchdown passes. He was recruited by BC as a tight end.

St. Ignatius coach Chuck Kyle said BC utilizes multiple tight ends in its offense and should be "a very good fit" for his co-captain.
