LR-looking forward to hearing your reports and seeing your pictures

this kid sounds very, very special

his coach is quoted in the latest Rivals article saying that he is the best player he has coached in his 10 years coaching- and he has coached 3 NFL players plus Derrick Harvey last year

His offer list is already like a who's who of CFB-Tennessee, Florida, Ohio State, LSU, Maryland, Oklahoma, Penn State and Virginia have already formally extended offers

How long before Petey says he will be his no. 1 guy??

I think our chances of landing him are slim to none. He stated that he wants to play in a conference which passes the ball a lot. The big 10 does not fit that criteria. He could change his mind, but I think he is another WR that doesn't want to block he wants to play in a spread offense.

Derrick Williams, the superlative Maryland WR, says he expects to graduate early. Although he declines to name a favorite, his mother works at Maryland and his brother, Dominique, was an All-America in high school before attending North Carolina.

WR Derrick Williams (6-1, 193, 4.4) of Greenbelt Roosevelt (MD) says he has over thirty scholarship offers. He absolutely denies any favorites.
"I don't have a top five, six or even ten. I like everybody," said Williams.

"Location doesn't play a role. I've been travelling since I was a kid and I'll play anywhere. I don't care if it's hot or cold, or in the country or city. I'll just need to make sure I'm comfortable there."

"I want to go in and compete early to start. Also, I want to go where the coaches will be there for the whole time I'm there. My dad and my coach are gonna help me narrow it down during the season. Once the college coaches start calling and recruiting more I'll see who wants me the most and I'll probably try to visit those schools."

Derrick is also being recruited for track (10.6-100m/21.5-200m) and plans to double-sport. He played QB his JR season and rushed for 1500 yds and 26 TDs. He also passed for 700 yds, with 7 TDs and three picks--but everybody is recruiting him as a receiver.

"I have good speed and I work hard. I'm very dedicated and have a lot of heart. I'm also very strong and have a lot of will. I really want to improve on all my stats from last year. I'm working on my explosiveness and pass routes."

He sounded like he has a good head over his shoulder. As a receiver, I would like to go where the pass the ball as well, who wouldn't? I like the fact that Zwick is a great passer, and that should give the coaches more confident passing the ball more. If that plays out, then we will have a better chance then we think, especially Holmes might be leaving early...which I hope not! It would be great to land him and see him run track with Ted Ginn and company.

If the Clarett decision holds up (as it almost certainly will) I think this is the category of player we need to look at as one or two years and gone (the top 4 or 5 CBs and WRs).

It would be great to have kids like this, but I don't see JT (the man who redshirted Santonio Holmes) retooling his Offense to attract kids who want to play two years without throwing a block before going to the NFL. In fact, if it does prove to be the trend that this caliber athlete is a one or two year player he may not even target them.

I don't get what you are saying. The Clarett decision will hold kids in school for three years. This is not a RS type kid.
I think i read somewhere that he was a Buckeye fan growing up-hope I'm right. Usually I have a bad feeling about these kids, but I think if Santonio puts on a show w/ Zwick this year, we have as good a chance as anyone. That said, I predict he will attend 1 of 5 schools-Ohio State,Maryland,Virginia,Florida, or Miami. Mark it down.

"Brinda (Derrick Williams' mother) grew up an Oklahoma fan," said Dwight, Derrick's father. "She is from Oklahoma City, about 30 miles from Norman. I played football in Oklahoma at Langston, where I was the LB next to Hollywood Henderson, who played DE. My wife had gone to high school with Hollywood at Douglas in Oklahoma City. About three to four years ago, Hollywood won the Texas Lottery and 25 million dollars."

Dwight Williams, the father of amazing Greenbelt Roosevelt (Md) ATH Derrick Williams (6-1, 193, 4.4), said his son has many scholarship offers at QB, DB and WR--but that most are for receiver. Dwight said, "Derrick wants to play early and be an impact player, and that is more important than what position he plays.
"Derrick's mom (Brinda) works at Maryland in personnel, and I used to work at the university as an administrator," said Dwight. "But that will have absolutely nothing to do with Derrick's decision. We just want what is athletically and academically best for Derrick."

"But if I had to pick six schools that I think Derrick will think about strongly, they would be Oklahoma ('tradition'), Penn State ('The Grandfather'), Florida State ('fast'), Tennessee ('Fulmer'), Texas ('Mack Brown') and USC ('Heisman Trophies').

"Derrick's brother, Dominque, played at North Carolina when Mack Brown coached them. So we are familiar with coach Brown and he comes to mind when we think of Texas. I've also been impressed with coach (Phillip) Fulmer at Tennessee and coach (Pete) Carroll at USC.

"I played my high school football for Dunbar High in Wash, DC. I played with Cornelius Green before he went on to star at Ohio St with Archie Griffin.
