tOSU definitely still has a shot at landing Gowland. When he refers to the tradition at tOSU being very appealing, I think he's really referring to recent past winning percentages with the current coaching staff, not Woody Hayes legends, past Rose Bowls victories, or tight games with Michigan. Winning is very, very important to him. He's only lost four games in six seasons of playing organized football, they still bother him, and they drive him to work harder all year long.
The recruiting process is far from over for Gowland. Guys like him who probably will be or are rated high three stars with good grades historically get most of their offers stacked late in the year, and many even after their senior high school seasons are over. Though he has made it clear in his statements he would prefer to stay close to home and play in the SEC, playing for a winning team may be even more important. Georgia and Florida seem to be highly rated with him because they are (1) legit contenders for the league championship, (2) play in a major conference with strong fan support, and (3) are somewhat close to home or relatives. tOSU has two of the three criteria (and I think the two most important to him), and two out of three ain't bad, especially when it comes to recruiting, where you don't always get what you want. So don't give up on him yet tOSU fans, it will most likely be a long slow ride to signing day.
