'05 FL QB Carlton "CJ" Jackson (Akron signee)

Cleve,

We brought up 19 kids from Ely. I feel they will be state champs this year, so there is a lot of talented kids. Most of the SR. kids will get an offer or 2 from the diffrent Universities represented at the Camp.

The new rules state Universities can not offer the student directly during Camp. They must wait 24 hours after the camp has ended to submit a written offer or offer via the HS coach.

Now, realistically, there are coversations on offers both being given and accepted taking place. Perhaps I might have overheard a few last week...

HH:

What are the biggest differences between the way Coach Cooper and his staffs recruited as compared to Coach Tressel and the current members of the OSU coaching staff?

Also, are there any major differences between the way the OSU camps were run/handled during the Coach Cooper days as compared to OSU camps now?

Finally how would you grade the current OSU Staff as a whole when it comes to recruting and do any of the staff members stand out in particular in your mind?

Since everyone is on vacation for 3 weeks, I guess I can answer...

Tressel works the staff very, very hard. A typical week is 70 hours for a coach. I don't recall Cooper working his staff so hard. Tressel is more like a CEO. Very dictative in his style, where Cooper was more of a friend type boss.

As Tressel said, it took 3 people to do the job Conley did. I think Camp went really well this year. It was the exact same format, same tours, etc. Pete and staff did not miss a step. Conley kept the camps the same under Cooper and Tressel. The only addition was a special SR. Camp, to help out some of the kids who could not spend 3.5 days.

I have some personal issues with how the kids in Dade County were recruited last year, that I didn't have when Cooper was here. But it is a position coach issue more that anything with Tressell.

I really miss Conley a lot. I am more than impressed with how Coach Petterson has taken over. Clearly, he is a first class guy. I am extreeeeeemly excited about Coach Hazell. Overall, I think this is a fantastic staff who I would trust enough to have my Son to play for.

Thanks for the info HH! I always enjoy your posts.

I've already seen 2 or 3 lists of Top 100 players in Florida and most have Ronnie Wilson in the top 20 - 25 and Carlton Jackson towards back of the lists.

Is CJ currently known more for the accomplishments of his team and do you expect his stock to soar with a very productive Senior Season?

I understand OSU is recruiting CJ as an Athlete, what position(s) can we expect him to play?

Any new infor on Carlton?

Also can anyone give us an evaluation of his play, where does he project at, where does he want to play, what is he going to play this year?

Any clue as to his favorites? I've read he's started getting some offers from some other high profile schools.

Maybe if Taz reads this he could give us a little update on his teammate??

I just did an interview with CJ. It looks like the Buckeyes are recruiting him to play QB and he's pretty adamant about the fact he wants to play QB in college no matter where goes. I didn't get into a discussion about his favorites but he does play with Miami, USC and Ohio State on NCAA 2005. CJ is a very polite, humble kid.

As soon as I can type up my notes I'll post the Q&A on the front page.

Three years after Zwick and Smith you could very well have Jackson and Schoenhoft. Another good 1-2 punch...one more of a pure passer, and one more of an athlete.
