Going into 2002 DT was considered a weak spot. It was moving Peterson from DE that made the pieces fall into place. The 2008 team has similar options.

And as good as Smith was even he could not match Heyward as a Frosh.

That said, everybody would have to take two huge steps forward to match 02.

EASY...'02. That DL will be hard to top period. They were the key element of our '02 NC imo. The '08 DL has some studs at DE and some guys who need to step it up big time at DT, though I think Denlinger, Larimore, and Worthington can, and will.

The fact that there have been over 60 votes cast, and that 2008 still has a goose egg, shows that there is a sense of reality out there. :wink2:

That wasn't my point. I said a hint of nostalgia, meaning that it played a small role in deciding. Obviously the '02 line was incredible, but don't you think we tend to make it "larger than life" because we won the NC? I'm sure everyone's lasting memory is Ken Dorsey dropping back with 5 guys in his face. Again, not saying they weren't the best we've had in a long time, because they were.

To answer your question: Many of us have been making the same point during this entire series; but I'm not going to fault people for speculating because it's freakin' July. What else do we have to do? Watch baseball?

As for the 02 line, it had seniors, but wasn't "full" of seniors (if you meant that word literally). Three of the starters from '02 were also starters in '03.

We should allow people to vote for 02 at least twice, if not more. That d-line is THE REASON we are 2002 national champs. From Buckeye fans everywhere, I want to thank you, Kenny Peterson, for deciding to reach superman status on 1/3/03.
