Couple of things:

The picks he made to put away the Purdue and PSU games were not thrown to his man, he came off his guy and grabbed them both.

Head to head for an entire game Andre Johnson from Miami had 1 catch. I can't think of a single WR of that caliber MJ has shut down like that.

Great points. The amount of ground Gamble covered on the pick shortly after "Holy Buckeye" was amazing. As was the job he did on Andre Johnson in the NC game.

My first toss up vote. Gamble was absolutely stellar and Fox was solid. They played some great defense but also had a ton of help from the D-Line, unlike the '08 guys thus far. If the DL gets more pressure on the QB this year (namely DT), I could see this group being better. Jenkins is slightly better than Gamble imo, because of his physical play, but Washinton and Fox are pretty close.

I know you think everyone on the '08 team is the best at his position in the history of OSU football but you need to get a grip.

What? Slow your roll a little ace....I voted for 2 positions in favor of '08 in which I was in the minority

QB & WR.. and I stand behind those positions. in my mind they were very close calls.

Krenzel undoubtedly deserves praise for being clutch and tough, but the 2 games that we lost in '07 were

1) ILL...TB didn't touch ball in 4Q. didn't have a chance to be clutch, and ILL got a TD on a bad call

2) LSU...I don't think you can place the blame of this one on TB, if our '02 D would have given up 38 points against Cryami there isn't even an argument here

I still think our '08 receiver corp is deeper, and filled with more weapons. People site Gamble as being a top flight receiver (based on ability not production) but at the same time state that the '08 receiver talent should not be given high marks because they haven't proven themselves yet...kind of a double standard.

re: Gamble vs. Jenkins...Jenkins is a much more solid & complete CB, while still making big plays and having great ball skills....re: Gamble's play making....don't forget the Wisky Game in '03 when Gamble got burned by Lee Evans for the deciding TD.

I am gonna side with the youngins' on this one.. Our corners are better this year. I believe MJ is the best corner we have had since Springs and Winfield roamed the secondary. Further if Dwash was the number one guy back there people would be talking him up as a POSSIBLE 1st round pick. Add in the depth and i think this is the best group of corners that Tressel has had. Gamble was VERY good, Fox was better than he gets credit for but MJ>CG and Dwash>Fox IMHO.

If these corners got to play with the safeties and Dline from O2' other teams may never score.

Go back to youtube and find video from The Game '06. MJ gets burned by MM on a double move so bad its scary, Henne just didn't complete the pass. They all get burned at some point.

'08. Jenkins and Gamble is a draw but after that, '08 has a big edge. Washington would be a 1st team all Big-10 favorite most years(unfortunately for him, 2 potential top 10 picks, Jenkins and Davis, also play in the Big-10) and both Amos and Chekwa would be starting on a LOT of other teams. This set of CB's has it all; experience, size, and athleticism.

Am I the only one who doesn't see Jenkins and Gamble as equals? IMO Jenkins is the far better corner especially when you factor in physicality (Is that even a word) and run support.

Maybe its the fact that I've had to watch Gamble play corner for the Panthers (Unfortunately) and the past couple of years have blinded me to his college days.

No your not the only one...I Like what Jenkins brings to the table a little more as well, Including intangibles like leadership, toughness and attitude

I like how Jwins summed it up

The reason Gamble has more game-changing plays is because the Buckeyes have dominated their opponents the last 2 seasons to the point where there were hardly any game-changing opportunities for Jenkins.

Malcolm's had a big pick against PSU and got one in the NC game this past season...he's been a big time playmaker for the Bucks.

'08 for the depth at corner, as someone said earlier though, the overall defensive backfield would go to '02.

Jenkins deserves some major props for his pick against LSU too. Yeah, we didn't capitalize on it but that isn't his fault. That play gave us life and we did score a TD because of it which cut the deficit down to a manageable 14 points.
