My hot take is that there's a conspiracy to name kids these new nonsense names (the Aiden, Jayden, Hayden) to make us forget our traditional classical names (William, Robert, John, Matthew, George, David....).
Step One: Name your kids whatever you want to
Step Two: Now people have forgotten about William, Robert, John, Matthew, George, and David
Step Three: ????
Step Four: Profit

I thought that it was only sung at fenway
England soccer fans do it too, which is what reminded me of it today, and it’s also a victory song for several EPL soccer teams. Apparently the Carolina Panthers have also adopted it. I think it’s occasionally creeping in at other venues as well. I suppose if I wanted a likely “hotter” take, I also think that American sporting event were just fine before singing “God Bless America” became a thing.

I happen to like Sweet Caroline and I'm a big fan of Neil Diamond, one of the greats. As a kid born in the late 60's and growing up in the 70's and early 80's his music was ubiquitous on the TV and radio. He peaked with the movie Jazz Singer then went away. I've always had mad respect for him.
