Agreed. I think there is a possibility OSU's priorities have changed. I think I mentioned that before.
My question is if they remain unchanged.
Once we have a better idea of the staff's targets, we'll get a better feel for the effort level and ability to recruit.
If we truly want the Silver...
I feel bad for the guy. He seems to be a loyal guy and a good recruiter. Maybe he was just a victim of the poor defensive scheme the last two years.
I'm sure he'll be in demand.
It's important to build those relationships. He may also be asking for information about players the coach is familiar with at other high schools. He may value Coach Hayes's opinions.
I post when I have something to say that I think adds to the discussion.
Take a look at how many of my posts before this set of hires were critical. Look up how many times in 16 years I've even had an opinion on a coaching hire and posted it.
Yes sorry I meant Walton.
If these guys have the personality to connect with HS coaches, mom and dad and the recruits themselves, all it will take is the desire and commitment to be a great recruiter. Day has it, so does Hartline, Coombs and Washington too and Urban did as well.
If Knowles...
I'm of the impression that most of the offensive staff are good recruiters. Obviously Hartline is elite.
On defense:
Johnson is a damn good recruiter
Edit: Walton? (not Salem)
Knowles?
Eliano?
Thanks for catching that.
When looking at his record, it looks questionable. His top 5 recruits of all time are one 4* and four 3*s. His 247 recruiting ranking is #112.

There is no question when he's recruiting for OSU, he'll get in more doors and with players that are in...
I'm concerned by one comment made by the dad. Knowles has been on the job for 12 days and AJ hasn't heard from him.
It's possible OSU's priorities have changed. If they haven't, it's a bad sign that Knowles didn't call him the very first day. I looked at Knowles previous recruiting success on...
How committed is Ryan Day to recruiting? From Tanner McCalister in an interview in The Athletic
"After that conversation, I got a call from Ryan Day. Ryan Day called me like five or six days straight, just seeing where my head was at."
Some coaches just close, other coaches let their...
Is the talent there? This is a defense whose best CB is a true freshman and the best LB was playing RB until a few months ago. Did the Buckeyes miss a few years on the trail?
As an example, I looked at 2018 and the Bucks didn't sign one edge rusher in the top 20. Are they paying for the Grinch...
They needed to stop the skunkbears running game. They couldn't.
The offensive line was outplayed and made as many mental mistakes as I can remember them making in a long time.
Due to those things, the offense had zero margin for error.
Day will need to really evaluate the program going forward. The defense has been regressing for at least two years and the offense has gotten softer. How does he address this?
