What exactly has Sammy done this year to disappoint you? She's pretty much avoided any kind of problem or outburst for quite some time (really, since the So Miss debacle), the team seems to be very tight and together, she's exhibiting good leadership skills, she's shooting better than ever...
No offense taken - but Adams wasn't cleared to play for quite awhile and couldn't get into a few of those "junk games" - I don't think she was available at all until early-mid-December. Stokes was out too with mono-like symptoms. Both of them look like they will play big roles the rest of the way.
Adams had her knee scoped in the fall and was behind schedule at the beginning of the season. As a freshman, the mental and physical jump from a HS in Middle Of Nowhere, AR to the B10 is a big enough step without dealing with conditioning issues too. That said, I'm sure the staff is pleasantly...
Howard
The Howard girl is a top talent and would have fit the team's needs very well. I know OSU was quite interested but (from what I've heard) her academic record removed her from consideration. It happens. Hopefully for her, the young lady can stay on top of her studies and prosper down south.
Rayven Ferguson
Word is the Buckeyes picked up a verbal from a very good wing player, Rayven Ferguson from Columbus Afrocentric. From what I've heard, she's an athletic, creative wing player with decent size and a nose for the basket.
It's 85-42 about 7 to go in the game. Apparently there was a stomach ailment going thru the team - doesn't look like it hurt much today, but if it's a food poisoning issue it could cause trouble next round.
+1 Nutzball
I don't really think the offense was all that bad tonight - they got plenty of people involved, got out in transition some, moved the ball well - and scored 83 points on a team whose defensive average is in the 50s.
The defense was not as good as it has been the past few games...
Recruits for 2010 class:
Amy Scullion 6'0" W Salem OH - Ranked 44 overall by Hoopgurlz, #9 Wing, scout's grade of 95; Blue Star has her at #64; she's a national team caliber volleyball player and did not play as much on the summer circuit as most top ranked girls did
Martina Ellerbe 6'2" F...
64-59 Final Buckeyes clinch their sixth straight title outright. That truly is a magnificent accomplishment.
I think this game shows a little growth from some of the recent road struggles. They worked hard to overcome a tough scoring day and everyone stayed aggressive on the offensive end...
32-27 Minnesota at the half. The GG defense has been solid - trying to deny Sammy outside and doubling on Jnatel when they can. They're playing very aggressively on the perimeter and the game has been very physical with many whistles ans stoppages - that pace favors Minnesota.
The Buckeye...
25-23 Minnesota 4+ to go. The shots aren't falling easily but the Buckeyes are working to get good ones and seem to be closer to getting in a rhythm. The GGs started out very hot even though the defense has been good - 4 offensive fouls and a few near shot clock violations.
Morning start (11:30 AM) in Minnesota today. China Antoine playing for the GGs today - she'll probably make something of a difference for Minnesota. Sluggish shooting start for the Buckeyes - down 11-6 at the 15 minute mark.
75-45 final. A complete thumping - no Boilermakers in double figures. Jantel had a dominant game with 20 and 11, Tayler had her best game of the year with 14, Sammy with 9 and 11 assists, Brittany and Amber with 8, Sarah and Andrea with 6, Cherise with 4. The bench played well Maria was a tiger...
41-16 at half. It's been pretty physical and the refs seemed to make a few more calls in the last couple of minutes. If it gets called tighter I don't think that will be good for Purdue.
Stats - Jantel has 10 and 6 boards and has really dominated on both ends
Brittany and Tayler both have 8 -...
37-16 Buckeyes 6and change to go. The whole team is playing with great intensity. KK Houser sparked a mini run that got Purdue as close as 14 but it's been a strong double digit lead for most of the half. Shooting is great, 5-6 from 3; very balanced scoring too.
Purdue actually pulled out that game against Wisconsin so just reverse what you have above and it still applies. A win on Thursday will just about clinch the B10.
Not everyone agrees with you. The technical may have actually been a little of the spark they needed - OSU was always seen as a little too "nice" by many in WCBB in years past.
You constantly bring up constructive criticism for Sammy, explicitly or by innuendo (where were all those "team play"...
Switching to man to man was a huge key as it controlled Alex Bentley who went off for 16 in the first half. It also helped the TO problem by giving OSU more transition opportunities and limiting PSUs chance to set up their very pesky zone which had caused most of the turnovers (20 at half! but...
