Speaking of Lil' Brother type schools, South Florida ended up grabbing Willie Taggart from Western Kentucky. In his first press conference, he went on about how USF should be the first choice of athletes from the Tampa Bay area, and started listing area codes (813, 941...). Left off the list...
Muschamp said that if Saban is unhappy, he'd be willing to trade places!:D
Apparently we need to retroactively send Alabama to the Cotton Bowl last year. Saban is making me pull for a Georgia victory, and that just goes against the natural order of the universe.
Hey, Nutria, remind them that they lost to us, too, and our offense doesn't even appear to exist until after halftime. Alabama might have just had an off day. :D
Which reminds me: how have you put up with this for years, Nutria? One season of this good defense/atrocity against football offense...
Looks like South Carolina is going to be the only obstacle ahead in our quest to finish first in the East and win the dubious honor of being crushed by Alabama.
FSU losing randomly to NC State is a fine tradition. It's not that much of a surprise - and, so much for the better that they'll have nothing extra to play for when we face off against them. A one-loss ACC team is going to be overlooked for the championship.
It would kinda stink if Green Bay lost. I'd like to see them play the Patriots in the big game - their pass defenses are so bad that by the fourth quarter federal regulations would probably require the football to have an air marshal aboard.
Purdue has engineering and technical programs at the same campus; the figures I was looking at didn't separate Indiana's medical school from the rest of it. Most of the research dollars probably flow to the medical center, but probably not all.
(Also, during lunch I'd opened a reply to Muck and...
Research revenue doesn't guarantee a commitment to quality teaching, but it's probably strongly correlated and certainly easier to measure. As far as slamming Indiana's research numbers, well, I can certainly understand that they're playing Georgia to Purdue's Georgia Tech, but they still should...
If you're wondering, Florida generally spends about $25 million or so on football every year. $40+ million dollars a year is nothing to sneeze at; granted, a large chunk of it ends up paying the bills for all the other sports, but most years that still leaves a fairly large chunk left over to go...
If it nets the school money to do so, yes, they should toss money at the football program. The University of Florida rolls most of the profit from their athletic department right into the academic side. This also is why UF rarely plays nonconference home-and-aways apart from FSU and stays...
