Not a good showing by the Trojans. As I said beforehand, this is OSU's NC game and they will likely go back to their mediocre selves next week but SC has to be able to get up and execute in games like this. You really dont deserve that #1 ranking if you only win big games but don't take care of...
Yeah, there's some truth to that for sure. I think the Pac Ten is worse though because none of the teams have serious BCS aspirations so their year usually boils down to beating USC. The fact that SC can't seem to take care of business in the Pac Ten is inexcusable though, no doubt.
What bothers me is that I can almost guarantee OSU will be back to their usual slow defense next week. OSU, like almost every Pac Ten team, only wakes up for their game against SC. Tale as old as time, baby!
I think it's a reflection of how stupid Heisman polls are in the second week of the season. Who can actually put a player at the top of his "Heisman list" after seeing the guy play for a couple halfs of football? I blame the media, damnit!!! Hahaha!
Craig James just jinxed the hell out of it for the Beavers. "Do the OSU players realize how close they are?" with 11:00 on the clock. At least OSU has someone to blame if this game slips away from them.:D
Well regardless of how annoying I find the Pac Ten in that regard, the fact remains that SC needs to be able to execute in games like this. Not necessarily come out and win by 77 points like ESPN mandated, but come out, finish your blocks and your tackles and win the game. If you can't do that...
I don't see how SC deserves to win this game. That said, someone needs to remind Pac Ten teams to play each other like they play SC. The entire Pac Ten gets up for a single game annually, namely the SC game. The Pac Ten is really aggravating in that respect.
Thanks a lot for your kind words.
Buckeyeplanet is truly an excellent college football forum, probably the best on the web in my opinion. It's a shame I didn't discover this place prior to a few months ago because there is a wealth of informed, learned opinions on football here and I've really...
I think the problem with the O is that Boeckman isn't a good enough passer to actually give the offense any real identity. When Smith was there, the OSU offense certainly had an identity, namely as one that mixed elements of a pro-style and option offense and kept opponents off balance due to...
I've had issues with SC's play calling in past years, but one thing I will give them is that when something is working they go with it until it doesn't work anymore. There is never any good reason to go away from what's hot in football, period. Youre RB is picking up ten yards a play going down...
Absolutely. Players play with confidence when the coaching staff prepares them well. If a coaching staff prepares you to win, you will go out the expecting to win. OSU has a great head coach though and that is enough to stay positive about, in my opinion.
Frankly it comes down to attitude too. In the pregame interviews Alex Boone and Todd Boeckman were saying that they wanted to show that they could "hang" with an elite team like the Trojans. OSU is supposed to BE an elite team! There senior leaders shouldn't be out there saying that they hope...
