  2. Jameis Winston (QB Browns)

Let's hope that the acquittal means that she wasn't raped. Never something to make light of.
  3. Ohio State 75, Florida 84 (final - NC Game)

Those threes are hard to take. But you can't beat a team that shoots that well, esp when you shoot from the outside so poorly.
  4. Any advice? Might be losing a member of the family

When we had to decide what to do with our oldest dog, the issue was perceived pain. His tail was constantly between his legs. He didn't want to go outside. But there is no line that makes it clear, despite what the vets say. We choose a sunny weekend, the first nice one of the year, then we...
  5. Ohio State 92, Memphis 76 (Final)

In contrast to Dorsey, Antonio Anderson sounds like a sensible, measured guy, like a point guard who understands the value of an even approach to each game.
  6. Ohio State 92, Memphis 76 (Final)

Foxsports.com allows for head-to-head comparison of teams. Instructive if not definitive. Here is the link comparing Ohio State and Memphis: http://msn.foxsports.com/cbk/headToHeadTeamResults?statsId1=349&statsId2=443&
  7. Ohio State 85, Tennessee 84 (final)

To defend those who went to bed at halftime: the loss in football genuinely spawned a depression. I simply seem incapable of responding in measured fashion to these contests. I need to take care of my mental health. BTW, CBS has the full game for review at sportsline.com, as well as...
  8. CD cover to use Scratch and Sniff Technology

The Raspberries did this with their first album, I think, back in the early 1970s.
  9. Grad School Experience

Playing handball against a cloudbank: that's how I used to describe the loneliness and uncertainty of a dissertation in the humanities. The only time I felt I shouldn't be working was in the bathroom. It was miserable. But it was made worse, far worse, by sharing the dept with my ex, who...
  10. Columbus, the new Seattle

At least it cleared enough to walk the dogs. And it beats the winter of 77-78.
  11. Early Morning Blog

When I went to the Ohio State Fair, I kept looking for Captain Kangaroo to follow Lucy's Toyshop. I dare not ask if there was talk about the venerable captain as well. Thanks for the detail, Cincibuck...
  12. What's your thermostat set at in the winter?

    50. Which we turn up to 55 sometimes in the evening. This is some kind of test by the woman of the house, but I'll be damned if I will yield. I just put on another sweater.
  13. Early Morning Blog

Cincibuck, I have to ask: was this children's show =Lucy's Toyshop=? A childhood memory hangs in the balance...
  14. Notre Dame (football only discussion)

I wrote something similar on the Laurinatis thread, but it bears repeating. There ought to be a greater willingness on this discussion board to concede excellence in players who are not Buckeyes. Go ahead and hate ND, but why extend that to Quinn? I don't see the logic. He has never...
  15. Any good Florida discussion forums...

I agree. The scout site for the Gators lacks much smart talk. But they must be out there, right?
  16. LB Coach James Laurinaitis (2x B1G DPOY, 2006 Nagurski, 2007 Butkus, 2008 Lott, 3x All-American, OSU HOF)

http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/natlRank.jsp?year=2006&div=4&rpt=IA_playertotaltackles&site=org No disrespect intended, but these numbers suggest other candidates may be more deserving. J Leman was pretty impressive against the Buckeyes. Given the tackling during the Michigan game, I am...
  17. Game Thread THE GAME: #1 Ohio State 42, #2 Michigan 39 (11/18/06)

Does this Michigan game feel different? Tressel answered a press question about the higher stakes in this year's game by saying that it's about the game itself, completely apart from the rankings and the national championship implications. And I find myself thinking - or feeling - that he is...
  18. Game Thread THE GAME: #1 Ohio State 42, #2 Michigan 39 (11/18/06)

I actually thought that Youtube video was kinda funny. The guy in drag really seems to be enjoying himself.
  19. 1968 Buckeyes

KSB, your response sounds oddly adversarial. My point was not to diminish the 1968 team but rather to note the extra difficulty that comes with every added game. Had the 1975 and 1979 teams stopped playing at 11-0, we'd have had two more championships.
  20. 1968 Buckeyes

Not enough credit had gone to the difference between winning a championship by winning ten games versus winning a championship by winning fourteen games. This current edition is 10-0, the same record that the 1968 team had. It should make us recognize just how tough that 2002 season was...
