I believe the rule is that if a kid wants to change schools he can do so anytime by simply raising his hand and informing the nearest coach. With these restrictions of course:
If he is traveling with the team when he changes schools the new school must pay a portion of his travel costs.

If Ryan Day is an honorable man the buyout would not be an issue.
He did not do the job he was paid to do. "The buck stops with me - where is my next check?" just doesn't get it.
Any decision regarding Day is obviously premature until our season is over.
That said, there is no reason to be afraid of the program impact if we do. Maybe an off year (you know, 7 and 5 with a win over Michigan on the road).
This is OSU and Harbaugh was right. Any coach who comes here...
For over a year we thumped our chests and said Just Wait! The plan was to beat them on the field and use the penalties to kick them while they were down.
That didn't work out.

All it takes is some billionaire who decides a football team is more important than filling an art museum or financing a political candidate and the sky is the limit.
Phil Knight on steroids. Imagine Elon Musk wants Penn to be Champs. 50 million is...
True that.
Not only do you compete and spend to attract unknown quantities, you have to recreit the successful ones all over again the next season while the losers try to hold you to the original agreement.
Look at the top rated kids OSU has brought in as transfers both before and after the...
Schools have an option of spending their money on unproven recruits or investing in proven assets from the portal.
Perhaps we are trending towards the latter.
The final week of the season the chatter about the new playoff format will be intense. Nobody makes any money by introducing the distraction of last years champ having their crown stripped.
Had the clock run out midseasoin - maybe then. But I see any announcement being pushed back to late...
I had written this year off given all the talent we lost last year. But we have transfers from Kentucky and Oregon both of whom started and averaged around 14 ppg.
With Jelani this could be McGuffs best team yet.
