2025 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

I was really hoping Arizona State would beat Texas for the opposite reason - to justify leaving mid-pack SEC teams out.

Auburn Football (Paying Players Before NIL + Scientology)

A friend of Nick's Saban's agent reached out to a member of the UT Board of Regents. How many degrees of separation do we have there? And quoting Paul Finebaum as "thinking" Saban was maybe considering Texas? That's not a credible source. Sounds like a bunch of Texas-sized day-dreaming to me.

2025 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

Didn't the 1-4 seeds all get knocked out in their first game? Doesn't say much for winning a conference championship or getting a first round bye.

I believe it would still be possible to ”pierce the corporate veil“ and go after university assets in cases of serious misconduct by the university. But as you can imagine, that doesn’t happen very often... Piercing the corporate veil that is. University misconduct probably happens all the time.

The fine wasn’t even that massive. Maybe $77,500 was the maximum fine OSHA could hand down, but it’s essentially nothing for Notre Dame. The family chose not to sue, so ND and Kelly got off nearly scot-free. “IOSHA fined Notre Dame $77,500 for six safety violations tied to Sullivan's death...

    Week 10 Game Discussion Thread

Back to reality for Cincinnati after a relatively soft early schedule. They have a decent team this year, but there’s a pretty big gap between UC and Utah/BYU.

You’re not wrong, but it looks like Miami is beginning their annual November collapse early this year.

I don't doubt your candidate list, but I'm having a hard time understanding why anyone would think Brian Kelly is an upgrade from James Franklin.

Anybody got some NARCAN? With all the universities dropping tens of millions to fire their coaches only to realize their options for replacing them may be even worse, I think I'm overdosing on schadenfreude.

    Nebraska Cornhuskers (corn)

Just some more datapoints from Google: It has been 3,624 days since Bo Pelini was fired as Nebraska's head football coach on November 30, 2014. It has been 5,236 days since Nebraska officially joined the Big Ten on July 1, 2011. I was hoping those numbers would line up better.

I don't think PSU is considering hiring Brian Kelly because they actually have a president running the university.

    LSU Tigers (official thread)

Ed Orgeron should take advantage of this confusion and just show up at practice and start coaching the team as a volunteer. He could become head coach by adverse possession of the role and negotiate his compensation with the new president once they hire one.

My gut feeling is that covering up negative facts is sort of a cultural thing up at ND. The administration may have been unhappy with Kelly and just kept it quiet. If they did, it paid off since not only did they avoid buying out Kelly's contract, they probably received some sort of payment...

It's really amazing how far one can get by throwing people under the bus and taking credit for things others have done. But eventually the chickens come home to roost. Let's hope that is what's happening to Killer Kelly now.

Well, there's your problem right there. Luckily, I believe there's a former University of Michigan president who helped guide their football team to a national championship that might be interested in the position.
